One of the 15 most beautiful universities in the world, Nanyang Technological University
Nanyang Technological University, one of the attractions in Singapore, is located at the westernmost part of Singapore Island. It is very close to Malaysia and is usually not visited. This time, I took the opportunity to visit the lighthouse and take a day trip to NTU. Nanyang Technological University is one of the 15 most beautiful universities in the world. Today we are visiting the headquarters rebuilt on the basis of the old campus of Nanyang University, commonly known as Yunnan Garden.
The campus has no walls or gates, it is open and accessible by buses. There are no access control systems in the dormitory and teaching buildings, and visitors can enter and exit freely. Nanyang Technological University is a research-intensive university in Singapore, divided into four major colleges: arts, science, engineering, and commerce. These four faculties consist of 12 schools.
The terrain of the campus is slightly undulating, with large tracts of tropical vegetation, towering trees, and lawns like green carpets. Teaching buildings and dormitory buildings are dotted in between, with different colors and heights, which are particularly pleasing to the eye.
The Chinese Heritage Centre is a building with a strong Chinese style. It used to be the administrative building of Nanyang University and now it has become a museum telling the history of overseas Chinese immigrants. Opposite the Chinese Museum is the Yunnan Garden, which has stone sculptures, flowers, pavilions and streams, full of Chinese garden style. On the gently sloping lawn is a giant eight-character motto of Nanyang University: Strive for self-improvement and strive for progress. In the middle there is a monument commemorating the establishment of Nanyang University.
"The Hive, the "Creative Room" adjacent to the Chinese Heritage Centre, is one of the iconic buildings of Nanyang Technological University. Its designer is Thomas, a top British designer who designed the London Olympic torch. Mr. Heatherwick, affectionately known as "Xiao Long Bao" or "Dim Sum Lou" because of its appearance that resembles stacked dim sum steamers.
Most of the sounds heard on campus are in Chinese, which makes me a little proud. This is a palace of longing. Must-check-in 1: Xiaolongbao The Hive is located next to the business school. It has a very stylish design and is very cute. It is mainly used by business school students for classes or self-study. The best spot for taking photos is on the zebra crossing on the road leading to Xiaolongbao. There are not many cars on this road, but please be careful when taking photos~
Must-check-in 2: Yunnan Garden
The location is about one or two bus stops to the left of the school gate. If you take 179 or the school bus, you have to go around a circle before you can get to Yunnan Garden Station. There is a big plaque of Nanyang University here, and it is also a must-visit place for NTU students.
Must-visit 3: Li Weinan Library
You can get there directly by bus or school bus. Many students get off here. After everyone gets off the bus, it’s basically the library, so only NTU students can enter. However, there are many outdoor study rooms, food and drinks here~ Especially the spicy hot pot in the house, it smells so good every time I pass by! Worth going!
