Atacama Valley of the Moon (Valle de la Luna)
The Atacama Moon Valley (Valle de la Luna) is a spectacular natural landscape located in the Atacama Desert in northern Chile. It is famous for its lunar-like landforms, hence the name "Moon Valley".
The Moon Valley is located in San Pedro de Atacama and is part of the Los Flamencos National Reserve.
It looks like the surface of the moon: the rocks here have been eroded by wind and water over millions of years, forming jagged mountains, sand dunes and salt layers.
This area is one of the driest places on earth, with almost no rainfall all year round, and some areas have not seen rain for decades. At sunrise and sunset, the valley will appear red, pink, orange and other colors due to the refraction of sunlight. The scene is extremely shocking, as if you are on the surface of Mars.
It is recommended that after arriving in San Pedro de Atacama, you go to a travel agency on the main street to sign up for a tour, most of which are similar.
