#AprilGoodDestinations2025
Dapeng Bay is located in Donggang Town, Pingtung County, and spans Donggang Town and Linbian Township. Dapeng Bay is the only large lagoon terrain on the southwest coast of Taiwan and the largest inner bay in Taiwan. The waters in the bay are about 3,500 meters long and 1,800 meters wide, with a total area of more than 532 hectares and an average water depth of 2-6 meters. In the past, the waters of Dapeng Bay were where Donggang people cultivated oysters. The islands filled with oyster racks and oyster shells formed a spectacle. In 2003, the Dapeng Bay National Scenic Area Management Office officially took over and replaced it with a fully planned recreational facility and ecological protection area, which, together with Donggang's fishery, culture and other tourism industries, formed a rich and diverse national scenic area. Various types of sailing competitions are held in the waters of Dapeng Bay every year, and there are also canoeing, SUP, lake cruises, and large sailboat rides. In addition, the waters in the area are rich in animal and plant ecological resources, including unique mangroves, sea ash, and coastal plants such as saddle vine, agarwood, and bitterwood. The animal landscape is mainly composed of birds, fish and soft-shelled turtles. Dapeng Bay is not only a good place for water activities but also the best place for animal and plant ecological conservation.
