Built in 1888, the American neo-Baroque building was the administrative centre until 1968. The construction reminiscent of the Meiji period retains the atmosphere of that time. The symbol of the pioneer envoy "Goryo Star" applied to the exterior is also a point. The interior of the building is open to the public, and exhibitions are held to convey the history and culture of Hokkaido. The beautiful garden is also a highlight, and you can enjoy the changes of the four seasons. We will not be able to visit the interior until 2025 due to renovation work, but until early May 2024, you can see the roof of the octagonal tower up close at the hypothesis tour facility.

Taking advantage of the cherry blossoms in full bloom, I specially came here today to see the flowers. The cherry blossoms in Hokkaido are indeed large, the trees are very tall, and there are many blossoms. However, the trees are a bit too tall, making it inconvenient for close-up shots. Nevertheless, it feels really nice, and the tulips are also beautiful, making the whole place a sea of flowers. It's truly a sight to behold.
