I have been a four leaves Bakery fans since I was young. My parents would always buy their chocolate fudge cake with a waffle base for our birthday. It was really delicious and made from Belgium dark chocolate. Another unique selling point of Four Leaves Bakery is their bite sized bread. Each cost less than a dollar which is a very good deal. Choose from mini crossiant, butter ham bread, chocolate bread, and many other choices. The outlet at one compass has lots of choices not to be missed. Visited Chicken Hotpot located at Sengkang, Compass One. Tried the set lunch specials deal, at only $10.80 ++ per set. It comes with soup base, meat selection, assorted vegetables and mushrooms, rice and egg. There are other set meals deals as well. Ordered 2 radish soup bases and 1 tomato soup base, taste was great and broth was good. Selected 2 portions of pork and 1 portion of chicken, meat was tender.

Visited Zoey’s Diner Compass One. Place sell a variety of pastas, burgers and drinks (tea based mostly). Western kind of cuisine. Ordered the Chicken Aglio Oilo ($8.90) and Mala Chick Pasta ($10.50). There was an ongoing promotion with a free drink with every main ordered. Ordered the Jing Xuan Milk Tea. Overall a great dining experience and pasta was cooked well too.

Just right outside of Compassone shopping mall, you can expect a Chinese New year fair going on with tons of good food and fun stuff to play! It is a happening event where you can get your Chinese new year plants and decorations. It is boisterous and the atmosphere feels very festive. The hungry ones, you will be glad to find many stalls selling different kinds of food and snacks, from tutu kueh, mango sticky rice, otah, ramly burger, etc. There is also a mini carnival with game booths and claw machines. I have been to an American Diner before but, have you been to a Singaporean Diner before? It kind of sounds new to me for this concept, as the shop takes on an American retro theme but yet selling old school local and western food. The name of this Diner is called Sally's and they are located on the first floor of compassone. Perhaps it is new, that is why there a queue of people trying this Diner. They sell some simple snacks like your paus, chee cheong fun and some local toast and coffee sets. For mains, there is pasta, western set meals like chicken chop and local delights like curry chicken with rice or French loaf. Cinnabon is a famous cinnamon roll shop overseas but in Singapore, we have Rroll. This shop is newly opened at the basement of Compassone shopping mall and this is great, because I will have more food options to add on. Apparently, there are also other branches of Rrooll cinnamon roll shops in Singapore and they are also halal certified. Their rolls comes in different flavours, from savory ones to sweet ones. Currently, they are also having a promotion where you can get any 4 rolls for $13.50. Pretty reasonable pricing. Interesting flavours that stood out for me would be sweet cheese and garlic onion cheese. Besides that, they also sell some small bite size donuts in a pack. There’s a promotion for the HK-styled wanton mee for just $4.95 and I think it’s a really good deal. There’s no crowd in the small but cozy dining area with just 6 tables, perfect for a quick bite but value for money. HK Sheng Kee Desserts sells HK traditional dishes of noodles and rice with its local (HK) desserts and snacks. They have 11 outlets across the island according to their website. There’s HK Sheng Kee Pau section beside the cafe which sells HK dim sum on the go too. I especially like the skinny noodles which can only be found in eateries serving HK styles wanton noodles. The texture still retains its crunchiness despite in a soup dish. Not possible for those skinny noodles made in the local markets. A little bit of nostalgia and local history : As a Hainanese, Jack's Place holds a special place in my heart as it's a restaurant operated by Mr Say Lip Hai. Mr. Say arrived in Singapore from Hainan Island (China) and started as a cookboy with the British troops where he homed in his culinary skills especially over steaks and roast. Hack's Place was started in 1966 as a British pub at Killiney Road owned by Mr Jack Hunt (British). Mr Hunt's wife tasted his meals, loved it so much that she suggested he partner up with her husband at his pub. Hence, in 1968 Mr Hunt entered into a partnership with Mr Say to start a catering business. Shortly after, he sold the shares to Mr Say who kept the namesake of the pub. As a child and part of the close knitted local Hainanese community, my family and I would support and visit the restaurant at AMK Central on weekends for special sizzling treats. When I grew up and moved, I would continue to patronise their other outlets at Serangoon Nex, Safra Punggol and now Compass One. Depending on the day, the sauce will be different. Done medium rare, the meat is tender and juicy as always like the good old days, and serving quality portions. So everything is pretty much standard as per their fixed menu. We ordered their signature Pork Cutlet Omelet Curry Rice @ $14.90 and the staff was nice enough to get me the vegetable curry instead. The pork cutlet was surprisingly crispy on the outside but tendery juicy on the inside. I was expecting the Japanese rice to be wrapped up within the omelet but it came with it just on top of the rice. Well, the thin omelet was pretty nice and the rice fortunately fragrant. The curry, though thick and rich, may need to add more spice to it. Overall, a hearty, satisfying meal. Would have cost a lot more after customisation at the main outlets. Their jelly cheesecake flavours are endless and you will be spoilt for choice. They have zesty tangerine, heavenly blueberry, tempting cookies, classic original and many more. Other items that you can find here are pastries, colourful cookie pops, jelly push pops, etc. Jelly Hearts makes a great dessert shop and they are sure to satisfy your sweet tooth. The figurines on display are mainly Gundam including a giant figure at the entrance next to the counter selling figurines. They also have programs for building figurines. There is an award ceremony for the Gundam contest on 3rd November. The Gundam exhibition includes Gundam that were sent in by contestants.

Visited Compass One, near Sengkang MRT, north-east of Singapore. This mall is decorated with Christmas vibes, with a nice Christmas tree, cute Santa’s Workshop exhibit, Christmas train and bears, and also gifts. Good place for photo taking and to experience the Christmas vibes while shopping. Recommended to come by to take a look at the decorations. #christmas2023

There is a go cart area for children, carnival fair, karaoke performance for adults and of course different food stalls. Some of the stalls open at 2pm, so it's better to come after that. I bought some avocado for 1 dollar each, which was quite a deal. It was 3 for 10 dollars at rivervale mall. The 1 dollar avocado was better than the one at rivervale. Tried the golden coin cake, it wasn't close to the one in Japan. I also had the takoyaki with nacho cheese, shark fin soup and the kao ruo chuan (skewers). #food #singapore

Polo tee at 10 dollars. I bought 2 and I overheard that the pants are at 9 dollars. Boxers and socks at 5 dollars. Shirt that are 79 dollars are selling at 10 dollars. Some of the brand that I spotted are Giordano, crocodile, arnold palmer, pierre cardin paris. There are also winter jacket and travel luggage on sale. Travelers that needed more items for their upcoming trip can come over. The last day is on sunday. #singapore

Three cheers to getting coffee any time any day! Apparently, coffee bean in Singapore has kicked start a few 24 hours outlets. One of these outlets is located at compass one mall at seng kang. This is superb because if I m looking for a supper spot or craving for coffee and cakes at 3am, I know where to head to. The coffee store sells a variety of pastries and cakes, to an extensive menu of coffee, ice blended to non caffeinated drinks. There are also seats within the cafe so it is not a take and go kind of concept. When i think of libraries, I always associate it as boring. But when I stepped into Seng Kang national library, my perspective of a library changed. Seng kang national library is situated at the last two stories of Compassone shopping mall - level 3 and level 4. It has an airy, bright and colourful layout that makes entering into a library more welcoming and vibrant. There was halloween decorations at the glass display of the library, showing horror books, since Halloween just passed. They have study areas for students, a comics section with the avengers decorations, and even audio visuals that people can borrow. It is no longer just books at the library. Even magazines are put on shelves for people to browse. Borrowing of books and a book drop has been made easier through the digital way too. Amazing! #celebratewithtrip #tripblazers
