Conghua Hot Spring is located about 75 kilometers north of Guangzhou. It is also known as Liuxi River Hot Spring. It is a famous scenic spot and health resort both at home and abroad. With the approval of the Guangdong Provincial Government, a provincial-level tourist resort has been established here. Conghua Hot Spring is known as the "No. 1 Spring in Lingnan" for its good water quality, high water temperature and beautiful spring scenery. It is one of only two rare radon soda hot springs in the world and is as world-famous as the Swiss hot springs in Europe. In 2009, Conghua Hot Spring was awarded the title of China's No. 1 Radon-containing Soda Hot Spring by the China World Records Association. Hot Spring Legend According to legend, there was a Qinglongtou Village on the banks of the Liuxi River in Conghua, where lived an old man named Xu who collected herbs. One year when a plague broke out, the old man saw his fellow villagers were sick and could not get medical treatment. Despite his old age and difficulty walking, he climbed up Toujia Mountain to collect herbs. His kindness touched the fairy, who gave him a silver pot that could be used to boil spring water into medicine. The old man used this silver pot to end the plague in the village. However, the magical use of the silver pot alarmed the greedy bully. In order to avoid being robbed by the bad guys, the old man was forced to climb the cliff. However, the bad guys were chasing him relentlessly, so the old man had no choice but to call on the fairy and jump off the cliff. At this time, a column of water gushed out from the broken silver pot, washing the bad guys into Liuxi River and drowning them. From then on, clear springs gushed out day and night along the banks of Liuxi River. This clear spring that can strengthen the body is the Conghua Hot Spring. In 1937, the Anti-Japanese War broke out and Guangzhou became a semi-occupied area. Government agencies were forced to move to the Xiangyang Hot Spring Area in Conghua. Many seriously wounded soldiers on the front battlefield were also transferred to the Yiyangyuan sanatorium for treatment. The head of the hospital at that time was Dr. Ko Dao, a famous German surgeon. He was surprised to find that after using Xiangyang hot spring water to clean and bandage the wound, there was almost no infection and the wound healed very quickly. This discovery was like finding a treasure to him at a time when antibiotic medical resources were extremely scarce. He wrote a research report on the anti-infection efficacy of Xiangyang Hot Spring Water and presented it to the local Chinese military commander. When Chiang Kai-shek heard the news, he was extremely happy and immediately instructed Yu Hanmou, the supreme commander of the Guangzhou area, to urgently dispatch Xiangyang hot spring water to support the front line. In September 1939, the Battle of Changsha broke out. The Chinese army at that time fought very bravely.
