Must-Try Vietnamese Food in Ho Chi Minh City
If you're visiting Ho Chi Minh City, you must try the banh mi at HONG HOA! Vietnamese cuisine is truly delicious, and the most impressive dish for me was the banh mi. The bread is incredibly tasty, and it's packed with fillings like pâté and pork 🐷. Since I don't like cilantro, I asked them to leave it out. The shop might look a bit shabby and make you worry about hygiene, but trust me, it's absolutely delicious! You have to try it!
Another must-try is pho! I went to a local spot frequented by residents. Watching how locals eat, I noticed they added vegetables and some kind of sauce from the table to their pho, so I copied them—and it was delicious!
Later, I met up with friends and went for Vietnamese barbecue, which is apparently called bun cha. It's quite famous, so reservations are a must! Vietnamese barbecue is healthy and easy to eat. You dip the meat into a sour soup or sauce, which adds a unique flavor.
As for banh xeo and fresh spring rolls, I personally found them underwhelming. Maybe they taste better at other places! Be careful with banh xeo, though—it’s huge! 🤣
