Step into a real-life Mughal painting and experience a spring dream in Srinagar.
Friends, I recently traveled to Srinagar, India. It's a truly mystical and beautiful place, and I have to tell you all about it!
Historical Significance: The Past of the Pearl of South Asia
Srinagar is the largest city in the Kashmir region, with a history dating back to the 3rd century BC. Over the centuries, Persian, Mughal, and British cultures have intertwined here. Mughal emperors built magnificent gardens, making Srinagar a shining jewel of South Asia.
Three-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive in Srinagar → Dal Lake Boat Ride → Visit the Floating Market
Upon arrival in Srinagar, a visit to Dal Lake is a must. Take a traditional gondola ride across the mirror-like lake, admiring the surrounding snow-capped mountains and floating gardens. It feels like stepping into a paradise. You can also visit the floating market and experience the unique water trade.
Day 2: Mughal Gardens → Visit Jama Masjid
The Mughal Gardens are a terraced masterpiece, with fountains, flower beds, and pavilions complementing each other. Every photo is a work of art. Jama Masjid is the largest mosque in Srinagar, with a unique and solemn architectural style.
Day 3: Pari Mahal Garden → Shopping → Prepare for Return
Pari Mahal Garden is built on a hill, offering breathtaking views of the entire city of Srinagar. Afterward, you can go shopping for souvenirs.

Accommodation Experience
I stayed in a houseboat on Dal Lake, falling asleep to the sound of the water and waking up to birdsong. It was incredibly relaxing. The price is about CNY 200-500 per night, but remember to bargain beforehand. Be aware that houseboat facilities may not be as comprehensive as hotels.
Transportation
✈️ External Transportation: You can fly to Srinagar Airport, with direct flights from other major cities in India.
🚕 Local Transportation: Taxis are the most convenient way to get around, but be sure to negotiate the price in advance to avoid being overcharged. There is also local public transportation, such as auto-rickshaws, but be mindful of safety.
Shopping and Entertainment
Visit Lal Chowk Market for Kashmiri carpets, shawls, spices, and other local specialties. For entertainment, besides Dal Lake, you can go hiking in the surrounding areas and enjoy the natural scenery.
Travel Budget
For about a week, excluding shopping, the cost is around CNY 4,000-6,000 per person, mainly spent on accommodation, food, and transportation.
Best Time to Visit
April to October is the best time to travel, with warm weather, blooming flowers, and the most beautiful scenery.
Tips to Avoid Pitfalls
Learn about local religious customs and respect local culture. For example, dress appropriately when entering mosques.
Don't be shy to bargain when shopping; you can usually get about half off the original price.
Avoid traveling alone to remote areas and be mindful of your safety.
