The Daobaoshi Pedestrian Street is one of the famous historical and cultural blocks in the ancient city of Anqing. It is about 200 meters long and 3 meters wide. There are many shops on both sides, and the buildings maintain the style of Ming and Qing Dynasties. The most distinctive landscape in the pedestrian street is the Daobaoshi Archway, which is named because of the inverted lion carved on the base of the archway. The archway was first built in the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty (1573-1619). It faces east and west. It was originally a white marble archway with four pillars and three doors. The front of the archway is engraved with "Huangmen Sijian" and the back is engraved with "Qingsuo Nayan". There are relief patterns of historical figures and stories on the archway, and dragon patterns are decorated around it. The upper part of the middle column is carved with window lattice patterns, and the base is carved with 4 inverted stone lions with curly hair and round eyes, open mouths and melons, which are vivid. Today, only the southern end of the archway column remains, which is 5.4 meters high and 2.35 meters wide. There are window lattice patterns, clouds, dragons and figures carved on the lintel. In 1986, a cement archway was built at the intersection of the west section of Daokoushi Street.
