Lone Peak Table Mountain | Da Wa Mountain
Da Wa Mountain is a unique peak located in Jinkouhe District, Leshan City, Sichuan Province. It is renowned for its spectacular table-shaped mountain, rich natural landscapes, and geological wonders.
Geographical Location
Located in Jinkouhe District, Leshan City, Sichuan Province, on the northern bank of the Jinsha Grand Canyon of the Dadu River.
Adjacent to the Dadu River National Geopark, it forms a geological wonder in southwestern Sichuan along with Mount Emei and Mount Wawu.
The main peak has an altitude of 3236 meters, with a flat top like a table, surrounded by sheer cliffs, with a relative height difference of over 1000 meters.
Natural Scenery
1. Five Connected Pools
At the foot of Da Wa Mountain, there are five glacial lakes (Five Heavenly Pools), each with its own characteristics:
Da Tian Pool: The largest, with lush meadows by the lake, and wildflowers blooming in summer.
Gan Pool: A seasonal lake that dries up in autumn and winter, forming a natural pasture.
Xiao Tian Pool, Gaoliang Pool, Yu Pool: Clear water reflecting the mountain, like a hidden paradise.
2. Alpine Wetlands and Flower Seas
Luerping Wetland: An alpine meadow at an altitude of 2500 meters, with green grass and herds of cattle and sheep in summer.
Rhododendron Flower Sea: Around May, the mountains are covered with blooming alpine rhododendrons, forming a pink and purple sea of flowers.
3. Biodiversity
Rare Plants: Dove Tree, Chinese Yew, Alpine Rhododendron, etc.
Wild Animals: Red Panda, Forest Musk Deer, Rock Sheep, and various bird species, with a pristine ecological environment.
Culture and Legends
Yi and Qiang Cultures: Local myths about Da Wa Mountain, believed to be the dwelling place of gods or ancient refuges.
Historical Relics: Ancient post roads and herbalist huts found in the mountains, witnessing the coexistence of humans and nature.
Best Season: May to October (spring and summer for flowers and coolness, autumn for colorful forests, winter for magnificent snow scenes but slippery roads).

4. The mountain road is narrow in some places, only allowing one car to pass, especially in tunnels where there are no lights.
5. After going up the mountain, there is a fork. The left side leads to a small village with narrow roads, and after passing the village, the mountain road is also narrow, requiring cars to give way. If you take the right side, you will go through Jin Yong Road, passing Weigan Village, with about 8 kilometers more mountain road, which is easier to drive. It is recommended to take the right side.
