Lai went to West Kowloon Centre for dinner. If you are a foodie, you must go to the newly opened Chef Food Court on the sixth floor. I was craving for oden, so I saw a restaurant called "Danshan" where the chef cooked Japanese curry udon and Korean fried noodles on the spot, so I sat down and feasted.
The menu is very simple. You can start with oden/Korean fried noodles as the base, and then decide to add chicken steak/pork chop/fried shrimp/beef. Of course, you can also add hot spring egg/fried tofu/rice cake lucky bag, etc. All of them cost only NT$5, which is very affordable.
Oden soup is usually made with bonito and kelp, which is light, sweet, slightly marine-flavored, and has a mild and deep taste. The sweet part is mixed with mirin sugar, which creates a slightly sweet aftertaste. It is light and not greasy. The ingredients absorb the essence of the soup base after being stewed for a long time, and have a soft and tender taste: Daikon Root: sweet and juicy, and the umami flavor of the soup base permeates it. Konjac: It is tasteless but chewy and becomes more delicious after absorbing the soup. Chikuwa: Sweet and chewy with the flavor of surimi.
The udon is made from Japanese ingredients and is topped with a large amount of secret curry sauce, making the udon springy and chewy with a hint of sauce. Most Japanese curries are sweet, but this secret curry is slightly spicy with the addition of Indian chilies, making it very tasty. The udon sauce was superb.
Teriyaki Chicken Steak: Chicken thighs are fried and grilled until the skin is crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. They absorb sauce better than chicken breasts. The sauce tastes sweet at first and then salty. The thickness of the sauce allows the flavor to adhere to the surface of the chicken, releasing the umami flavor when chewing.
Gillette Pork Chop: Crispy and golden on the outside, juicy and tender on the inside, paired with a rich sauce, it has a rich flavor. Japanese style is thicker and sauce-focused.
The hot meat aroma, the tender and juicy pork, and the sour, sweet, salty and fresh taste of the sauce spread in your mouth.
Gillette Fried Shrimp: Crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, golden and attractive, the fresh prawns are quickly fried, the meat is firm and chewy, retaining the natural sweetness of seafood.
Korean fried noodles with beef: It has a strong wok flavor, the noodles are springy, and not too salty or dry. It is served with bean sprouts and kimchi to enhance the taste, and it is not too spicy, making you salivate.
Summarize:
