Bell and drum tower are in central Beijing and you will probably walk passed them sometime. If not the two towers are a good place to head to followed by a stroll around the hutongs. I was lucky enough to witness a performance in the drum tower which was late afternoon about 4-5pm. The performance was enjoyable and worth hanging around for if you can. Walked between the two towers

I had been to the bell and drum tower in Xian previously and the ones in a Beijing were very different, not at all in a bad way. I don’t know if I could go in but at the time I couldn’t. These ones felt smaller and more personal. The ones in Xian were in the middle of an heavy traffic area so harder to get to and see. In Beijing they were in a small park. Because of this I felt ok to walk around and take my time and didn’t feel the need to find out if I could go inside, the park was worth the visit on its own. It was early spring so still a little cold and less people were out and I loved that. They are easy to miss but I think you should check them out. I’d do them on the way to something else as they are smaller.

We caught the Bell and Drum Towers after dinner out and a trip to the nearby hutongs. Illuminated until 10pm. Quiet and absolutely beautiful. Must see on any trip to Beijing.

I want to recommend this restaurant to my friends visiting Beijing. Every time I go there, it's super crowded, and we even had to wait in line for an hour!! There's a terrace and a starry ceiling. The large lamb chops are roasted to perfection, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, sizzling with oil. Dipped in the sauce, it's heavenly! I came to Beijing for a trip with my elder sister this time. 🌽We booked this hotel. As soon as we step out of the hotel, we are on Wangfujing Pedestrian Street. It only takes 2 minutes to walk to Wangfujing Subway Station! And right beside it, we can visit Wangfujing Bookstore! This hotel is really high-end.🍐 🌶️Environment: The environment is very cozy. The only thing is that the bathroom is a bit narrow, but generally, people don't really mind that. The environment of the restaurant downstairs in the hotel is nice, and the food there tastes good too.🫐 🍅Service: When we entered the hotel, the staff helped us with our luggage. The Drum Tower and Bell Tower of Beijing are located at the northern end of Di'anmen Outer Street in Dongcheng District, Beijing, China. They were timekeeping buildings in Ming and Qing Dynasty Beijing. Yandai Xiejie is known for its shops selling smoking pipes, antiques, calligraphy, paintings, stationery, and local snacks.
