Du Shoutian's Former Residence was first built during the Wanli Period of the Ming Dynasty. It is a national AAAA-level tourist Attraction, a key cultural relic protection unit, and one of the 100 must-see places in Shandong. Du Shoutian's Former Residence is the former residence of the Du family in Binzhou. The Du family prospered for more than 500 years during the Ming and Qing Dynasties, breaking the common saying that "wealth does not last for more than three generations", which is rare in China. The Du family is famous for "twelve Jinshi in one family", "six Hanlin in four generations", "four generations as prime ministers", and "a family full of honest officials", and is known as the first family in northern Shandong. Du Shoutian was the teacher of Emperor Xianfeng of the Qing Dynasty. He served as the Left Censor-in-Chief, the Chief Master of the Upper Study, and the Minister of the Ministry of Works, the Ministry of Punishment, and the Ministry of Personnel. He was a man of integrity, learning, patriotism, honesty, diligence, and dedication throughout his life. Du Shoutian's former residence is the former residence of the Du family in Binzhou. The Du family prospered for more than 600 years during the Ming and Qing Dynasties, breaking the common custom of "wealth does not last for more than three generations", which is rare in China. The Du family, represented by Du Shoutian, was at the peak of its academic achievements during the Ming and Qing Dynasties, and produced many talents. Among them, 347 people passed the imperial examinations, 12 passed the imperial examinations, 5 entered the Hanlin Academy, and 8 passed the imperial examinations. There were 39 civil officials, county magistrates, and military generals with a thousand households or above.
