A flowery city walk route: Part of Zhang Zizhong Road
👉In 1954, the 2,506-meter-long road, including Di'anmen East Street, Zhang Zizhong Road, and the west section of Dongsi Shitiao, was widened to 10–12 meters, and Zhang Zizhong Road was transformed from a hutong into a street. In 1999, the 7,062-meter-long road, starting from Dongsi Shitiao Overpass in the east and ending at Guanyuan Overpass in the west, was widened to 28–33 meters, becoming one of the six main east-west roads in Beijing. For the sake of convenience, it is collectively referred to as "Ping'an Avenue," and Zhang Zizhong Road is a section of it.
1️⃣Former Site of the Qing Army and Navy Departments: Located at No. 3 Zhang Zizhong Road, Dongcheng District, Beijing, the former site of the Qing Army and Navy Departments was rebuilt in 1906 after the original Prince He's Palace and Chenggong Mansion were demolished. In 1910, the Qing Navy Department was added. The eastern part is now the International Department of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and the western part is the old campus of Renmin University of China. It is not currently open to the public.
2️⃣Princess Hejing Mansion: Located at No. 7 Zhang Zizhong Road, Dongcheng District, Beijing, Princess Hejing Mansion was built in 1747 and is now the Hejingfu Hotel. It is not currently open to the public.
