Just a short walk from there is the Holocaust Memorial, which is both moving and thought-provoking. Walking through the stone slabs was a powerful reminder of history. 🕊️ Next, I headed to the Reichstag Building. I didn’t book my free entry in advance, so I had to wait a bit, but it was worth it! The glass dome offers amazing views of the city, and I loved learning about German politics through the audio guide. 🎧 Afterward, I explored the lively streets of Mitte, grabbing a bratwurst from a street vendor—classic Berlin snack! 🌭 In the afternoon, I visited the East Side Gallery to see the famous Berlin Wall murals. 🎨 The colorful graffiti and messages of peace are inspiring. East Side Gallery is the iconic stretch of the old Berlin Wall now decorated with various urban artworks. Despite being a bit of a tourist trap it’s still a must see attraction when visiting Berlin. Surrounding areas can appear a bit seedy but don’t be put off. The riverside walk on the other side of the wall is an added bonus. During summer It can get quite crowded in early evenings as couples and families gather on the banks of the river to enjoy the sunset over the river with the Oberbaumbücke bridge as a backdrop, which itself is quite impressive. The 'East Side Gallery' located in Berlin is the world's largest open-air gallery, measuring 1316m in length. Ambiance/highlights - most iconic Berlin Wall mural, you can walk from one end to the other side of the wall, that is about fifteen to twenty minutes. it was painted in 1990 after the fall of Berlin Wall in 1988. it used to divide Berlin between west and east Berlin stopping people from the same country from crossing. how crazy this is! luckily it was taken down. each mural is different, super talented people here! There you can see the conserved graffiti project by 118 artists covering part of the Berlin Wall and celebrating its demise. Berlin Presidential Palace (Bellevue Palace) Some other places you can visit in Berlin include Berlin Presidential Palace (Bellevue Palace) which has been the official residence of the President of Germany since 1994. You can also see the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church, a famous landmark of western Berlin which was badly damaged in a bombing raid. This has been nicknamed by Berliners “der hohle Zahn”, meaning “the hollow tooth”. #berlin #germany
