A Unique Adventure: Coconut Boat Ride Near Hoi An
#travellerswonderland
During our trip near Hoi An, we had the unforgettable opportunity to ride a traditional coconut boat, also known as a "basket boat."
These round boats, woven from bamboo, have been used by local fishermen for centuries, and experiencing it firsthand was a true highlight of our visit.
We headed to the village of **Cam Thanh**, just a short drive from Hoi An’s ancient town around 15 minutes, where we were greeted with warm smiles and enthusiasm from the local guides.
As we stepped into the basket boat, we couldn't help but marvel at its simple yet ingenious design.
Gliding through the calm waters of the Nipa palm forest, we were surrounded by lush greenery, creating a serene and picturesque atmosphere.
As we floated along, he demonstrated traditional fishing techniques, showing us how to cast a net into the water—a fascinating skill passed down through generations.
The experience was more than just sightseeing. It was interactive and fun, with our guide even letting us try our hand at rowing the boat.
The boatman couldn't speak English, but he made an effort to communicate using gestures and went out of his way to help us take photos. We gave him a USD 2 tip as a token of appreciation.
