Edinburgh's Christmas Market
Edinburgh's Christmas Market this year is all about the atmosphere. With warm yellow lights, charming stalls, bustling crowds, and the aroma of food, the festive spirit is palpable. The market features attractions like flying chairs, slides, and a Ferris wheel, adding to the holiday cheer.
However, the stalls are somewhat homogeneous, with half offering Christmas ornaments and decorations, and the other half serving snacks like mulled wine, hot chocolate, burgers, hot dogs, and fries. While visually appealing, they don't strongly entice purchases. It's uncertain if the stalls will change later, but maintaining interest for two months might be challenging.
🌟 Mulled Wine, £7.5: This is the top pick, especially the first sip, which is quite impressive with the warm wine carrying the sweet and sour notes of apple and citrus. However, the cold evening turns it into chilled wine halfway through.
🌟 Pancake with Cookie Crumbs, £9: Thin, slightly crispy pancakes with a layer of caramel sauce in between, topped with two scoops of caramel cookie crumbs. The taste is decent, but £9 is steep, especially with an extra £1 for the cookie crumbs.
🌟 Amusement Rides: The flying chairs, which sprang up overnight, look thrilling at 80m high, and the screams from below add to the excitement. The Ferris wheel spins quite fast, which explains why some people feel dizzy after riding it. There's also a beautiful inflatable-looking slide.
