The 2023 Edinburgh Christmas Market has officially begun, running from 10am to 10pm with no entrance fee (note that rides close about half an hour earlier). The market is quite large, featuring many stalls selling Christmas-themed items, although there aren't many amusement rides. The Ferris wheel and swings usually don't have long queues, especially if you avoid Saturdays when it's busiest. The high-altitude swing is quite interesting! Despite the steep price of £14, it offers a close-up view of the nearby monument. It's a bit scary but manageable, and you can even record videos on your phone. Mulled wine is priced at £7 and hot chocolate at £5, though they aren't as good as those in London. Roasted chestnuts are £7 for a small portion and are quite nice! I think it's definitely worth a visit. The Christmas atmosphere in Edinburgh is truly wonderful. We rushed to catch the first wave of Christmas vibes with friends! 💰Tickets: Search for 'edwinterfest' to find the official website, as direct links might be restricted. Both the Ferris wheel and roller coaster tickets can be purchased online. We also saw people buying tickets on-site at the ticket booth. Online, you can buy student tickets, and there are discounts for local Edinburgh addresses. It's unclear if there are any discounts on-site. 🌟Note: Online, you can only select 10:00, which means the market opens at 10 AM that day, and you can visit anytime after that. 🚙Entry: The market entrance is next to the National Gallery, opposite Uniqlo, and is very noticeable. (Both the Ferris wheel and roller coaster are inside the market.) 🎡Queue: The queue time for both attractions is about 20 minutes, and watching people scream above makes the wait less boring. 🎢The Ferris wheel goes around three times, offering a great view of Edinburgh from above. The roller coaster is 80 meters high and lasts about 3 minutes. It's very windy and cold up there, so dress warmly. The centrifugal force is strong, so be careful with your phone.
