It was so close that I completely missed the chance to go, but I finally went 🌟 Every time I pass Ryogoku Station on the Toei Oedo Line, I hear the announcement "Ryogoku Edo-Tokyo Museum in front ♪", so I've always been curious about it 😅 The admission fee is a reasonable 600 yen for adults. The museum is quite large, so I feel like I could look at it for half a day without getting bored. I was impressed by the miniature that faithfully reproduced the Edo cityscape! It's quite moving to think that this Tokyo full of buildings was like this in the past. What moved me even more were the buildings that survived the Great Kanto Earthquake, standing resiliently through the ages, narrating tales of the city's endurance and sustainability. As the sun set, I stood in the middle of the park's streets, gazing at the intersection of the old and the new. This museum is like a huge time machine, leading visitors through the history of Tokyo from the Edo period to the modern era. As soon as I entered the museum, I was shocked by the restored Nihonbashi Bridge at the entrance. There were also many models on the bridge depicting Edo life, which were lifelike. I spent several hours in the museum carefully appreciating the various exhibits. From the cityscape of the Edo period to the urban changes after the Meiji Restoration, each exhibit tells the story of Tokyo's past. What moved me the most was the 1:1 reconstruction of the Edo period theater. Looking at the realistic scenery, I seemed to hear the laughter and cheers of the past. In the afternoon, I visited the nearby Ryogoku Kokugikan to learn about the profound Japanese sumo culture. I also tasted a bowl of sumo hot pot, which was rich and unforgettable. In the evening, I went to the bank of the Sumida River and quietly admired the reflections on the river and the Tokyo Skytree in the distance. Tokyo at night showed a soft and charming side. Day 2: On Day 2, I chose a modern urban exploration route. In the morning, I came to Roppongi Hills, which is full of artistic atmosphere, and visited the Mori Art Museum, where I admired contemporary art works and felt the creativity and design power of Japan. Afterwards, I went to Odaiba and took a Ferris wheel to overlook the panoramic view of Tokyo Bay and experience the leisurely atmosphere of the city. In the afternoon, I returned to the area where the Edo-Tokyo Museum is located and visited the nearby Sumida Hokusai Museum, which exhibits many of Hokusai's classic prints, such as "The Great Wave off Kanagawa". It was a winter trip to Japan with friends. We first visited Senso-ji Temple in Asakusa. The interior was very beautiful and the entrance was free. We then visited the Edo-Tokyo Museum. The ticket of entrace was ¥600. The price was considered reasonable as there are many things you can see and explore around. It was a very good experience as we were given lots of ingredients and were sitting in front of the grill to cook our dinner. The area was warm and it is really suitable to go during the winter. The environment and vibes was 💯💯💯 Sometaro Okonomiyaki Restaurant 📍 2 Chome-2-2 Nishiasakusa, Taito City, Tokyo 111-0035, Japan We also had a meal at Kyubey Ginza for traditional sushi. The taste was good, maybe it’s because I’m a big fan of Japanese cuisine. The price is considered affordable. If you’re around this area, can give it a try. The entrance fee was free and we also shopped around the Shibuya area and took plenty of good pictures. The view in Japan was just too beautiful. We also explored to the Mori Art Museum in Roppongi Hills which was free to visit on that day. We were told that, sometimes when there are exhibitions, entrance fee may applied too. This is the Edo-Tokyo Architectural Museum, which was the motif for the background of Spirited Away. For me, who likes to see exotic architecture, it was a really fun space. It is actually very similar to the architecture in Spirited Away, so if you like Ghibli, you should definitely go there~ I went on a weekday, so there weren't many people and I was able to look around quietly.
