Emperor Shun's Mausoleum at Jiuyi Mountain in Yongzhou, Hunan | The First Mausoleum in China
The Mausoleum of Emperor Shun is located at the foot of Shunyuan Peak, the main peak of Jiuyi Mountain in Ningyuan County, Yongzhou City, Hunan Province. It is said that a temple was built on the bank of Dayang Creek in Jiuyi during the Xia Dynasty, and was moved to the front of Yuguan Rock in Jiuyi during the Qin and Han Dynasties, and it was built on a grand scale. After thousands of years of vicissitudes, although it has been abandoned and rebuilt many times, its location has never changed (recorded on the map of cultural relics unearthed from the Mawangdui Han Tomb). During the Ming Dynasty, it was moved to the foot of Shunyuan Peak, combining the mausoleum and the temple into one.
