Army Experience with Army Open House
After a few years of hiatus due to the pandemic, Army Open House reopened its doors once again for visitors to experience tidbits of the army experience through fun filled activities and exhibits featuring various things such as armoured vehicles and performances. This large scale exhibition is held at F1 Pit Building, with 2 other smaller scale exhibitions in the heartlands at Punggol and Bishan.
Was fortunate to be able to get tickets despite experiencing technical difficulties initially, as the tickets got snapped up really quickly. While they had many activities such as the battle rides which allow visitors to cruise on the waters of Marina Bay in a military raft or have a bird’s eye view on the helicopter rides, rifle tryouts and obstacle course racing, most of the activities start in the morning or early afternoon, or cater more for the kids. Regrettably, as I was only available to drop by in the late afternoon for the event and had booked tickets for that time slot, the slots to get onto the battle rides were already fully booked. Due to the weekend crowds, long queues formed at the booths hence I did not get to try out alot of things.
Tried out whatever activities that were still available catered to the adults despite the long waiting times, such as the push up challenge and got a cute souvenir which is a bear wearing the army uniform. There is also the tyre flip challenge which can also get the bear as well if you succeed in completing it but I missed the finishing line narrowly. Along the way, there were also photo opportunities with the armoured vehicles, performances and checked out the displays too. Nevertheless, it was a fun evening getting to know the capabilities of the local army through this exhibition.
