Transportation It is recommended to arrive at Lingyan Scenic Area first, and then transfer to the scenic area minibus at the entrance of the scenic area (charged from January 1, 2025, 10 yuan/person). You can take the minibus directly to Fangdong Scenic Area, which is convenient and fast. You should consider your physical strength when planning your itinerary. Seasonal landscape differences: There is insufficient rainfall in Yandang Mountain in autumn and winter, and Xiaolongqiu has little water, so you cannot see the waterfall. It is recommended to visit during the flood season. Suggested visiting time: Due to the obstruction of the mountain, most scenic spots in Lingyan will not have sunlight after 13:30. It is better to visit in the morning and take better photos. Drinking water facilities: There are automatic water dispensers along the scenic area. The most quintessential scenic spots in Yandang Mountain are Liangling and Yiqiu, but there is another scenic spot that I like very much and want to promote it loudly - it is Fangdong, a very photogenic place. This is a square plank road carved out between cliffs hundreds of meters high, hence the name. It has a romantic name "Silver Cliff Sky Corridor" and from a distance it looks like a belt hanging halfway up the mountain. Here, there are huge rocks above your head and railings in your hands. If there is morning fog and rolling sea of ​​clouds, the peaks will become even more ethereal and magical. Along the way, you can see Guandao Cave, Yuntian Bridge, Hanging Golden Bell, Plum Blossom Cave, Juxian Pavilion and other landscapes. My favorite is the sky bridge between the two mountains, which is over 100 meters long. When you walk on it, it will sway slightly with your steps. The scenery of Fangdong, though not as famous as the 'Three Wonders' of Yandang, is unforgettable after the visit. Fangdong is located on the west side of Lingyan Scenic Area, named after the square-shaped cave on the cliff. In my opinion, the best part of Fangdong's scenery is not the cave itself, but the plank walkways. On February 7th at noon, I took the shuttle bus directly to the west gate of the mountain's scenic area. As soon as I entered through the ticket checkpoint, I was on the plank walkway. Just a few meters out, looking back at the ticket checkpoint, it seemed to be in the clouds. Looking down the cliff, the green mountains surround the village houses and terraced fields. Looking ahead, the path of the plank walkway snakes along the sheer cliffs. Walking along the Fangdong plank walkway, one can see Fangdong, Golden Bell Cover, Guandao Cave, and Juxian Pavilion in turn. However, what's more exciting is walking on the plank walkway itself. The hundred-meter-high cliff plank walkway, either carved into the rock or suspended from the cliff, is as steep as if cut by an axe. The danger of the walkway is not apparent when you're on it. But when you turn a corner or cross a mountain and look back, the walkway hangs on the cliff like a line, truly a dangerous path. Walking on the plank walkway, looking down is a bottomless abyss, looking up are majestic mountains shrouded in clouds and mist, and looking to the side are rugged and bizarre cliffs. Crossing the iron chain bridge and following the walkway, there is a gradual ascent. Reaching the Pearl Waterfall, you see strings of crystal droplets cascading down dozens of meters of cliff face, fluttering back and forth, falling into the Jade Pool. At Tianxin Pavilion, the stone path of the mountain ridge undulates over the mountaintop, and Jing Tian Lake is faintly visible in the distance. The Woyun plank walkway continues to spiral up towards the mountain peak, as if hanging on the cliff at the mountain's summit. Walking on the plank walkway, with the wind rising and clouds surging, it truly feels like walking in the clouds. Looking down, each standing cliff and peak is covered with lush greenery, resembling garden bonsai. There are glass walkways in many places on the plank walkway, with a view of the peaks and ravines underfoot, standing atop a giant cliff. When the path winds around and reaches a larger glass viewing platform, you have arrived above the Wolong Valley, with the scenery of Lingyan right before your eyes. Here, the plank walkway begins to descend, reaching the ticket checkpoint of Lingyan Scenic Area, marking the end of the Fangdong scenic area tour. The beauty of Fangdong lies not in the caves but in the walkways. Above the clouds, walking on the cliffs at the mountain's summit, how splendid! The poem says: Take a ride up the mountain to enter Fangdong, where plank walkways encircle the mountain and hang over the peaks. Walking on the road atop a thousand-ren cliff, strange peaks and beautiful scenery are captured in the eyes.
