Visit Hokkaido in the height of summer to see the flowers: The complete guide to Furano's lavender
① Nakafurano "Color Fragrance Village"
►Check-in experience:
- Not many people come to Color Fragrance Village, one reason is that it's quite a distance away, requiring a climb up a steep slope; the other is that this quaint place is more of a niche spot, and large travel groups generally don't come here.
- After crossing a field opposite Nakafurano Station, turn onto a small path and slowly climb up, the destination is at the end of the forest!
Along the way, there are lovely little flowers and grasses planted by local residents
- Once you reach the lavender garden, you're greeted by a sea of purple!
Sunflowers! The sunflowers planted here are golden yellow, small and delicate, and particularly endearing!
From a corner of the flower field, you can see the distant Tokachi mountain range!
►Recommended visit: 2 hours
►Transportation: Take the JR express train from Sapporo to Furano
② Furano's most beautiful farm: Tomita Farm
► After returning to Nakafurano Station, I rented a bicycle and set off for "Tomita Farm," the farm of the Tomita family who persisted in growing lavender many years ago!
► Tomita Farm
- Composed of several flower fields, among which the most famous is the colorful flower field. It's like a luxurious flower carpet visible even from the moon, stretching straight towards the pine forest on the other side of the field!
- Unlike the singular scenery of Provence, Furano's lavender, set against various environments (colorful fields, large forests, distant mountains, blue skies and white clouds), presents various postures. It feels like a painting from any angle, with endless scenes to capture
- Continue cycling to a lavender field on the hillside, which is the oldest lavender field of Tomita Farm, giving a bit of a Provencal feel!
- The bike rental was scheduled for 2 hours, but I ended up wandering around for almost 3 hours before heading back.
► Town-run Lavender Garden
- When returning the bike, I took a distant look at the town-run Lavender Garden on the way, which is a flower field in summer and Nakafurano's ski resort in winter!
The word "Nakafurano" is spelled out with flowers in the middle, complemented by various colors of flowers below
►Recommended check-in: 3 hours
►Transportation: Rent a bicycle
