#getgoing2025 Taking the train from Catania to Taormina was an unforgettable experience. The route follows the coastline, offering breathtaking views of the Ionian Sea. I recommend sitting on the left side of the train for the best scenery. The journey itself was just over an hour and was both comfortable and affordable. When I arrived at Taormina-Giardini station, I took a short bus ride up to the town, perched high above the sea. Wandering through the charming streets, I was enchanted by the colorful buildings, quaint shops, and stunning views of the surrounding coastline. The highlight of my visit was the ancient Greek Theatre, where the blend of history and panoramic sea views left me speechless. For travelers, here are a few tips: wear comfortable shoes, as the streets are steep and cobblestoned. Bring a camera—the views are worth capturing at every turn. And don’t miss trying granita, a refreshing Sicilian treat, from a local café. Taormina is a perfect day trip, combining natural beauty, history, and delicious food. The journey there and back was just as memorable as the destination.

Taormina is perfect because of staying in this hotel. The hotel is located near the Grand Theater, three or two minutes away from the park, and the parking lot is also convenient. 15 euros a day, which is cheaper than many hotels. The hotel's invincible sea view is very good. The breakfast is rich, and the orange juice is freshly squeezed on the spot. It's delicious. The hotel's swimming pool is like a glass tank, which is very interesting. It's very enjoyable to watch the beautiful scenery and swim. A complete guide to Isola Bella can easily achieve a day trip around Milan 1 Depart from Milano Centrale Station to Stresa, which takes about 1h, with a round-trip ticket costing 17 euros. 2 Get off at Stresa, use Google Maps to locate Carciano, and you'll find the boat ticket office, with two options (a round-trip to Bella Island for 10 euros per person, or a three-island pass for 15 euros per person, which includes Madre, Pescatori, and Bella). Personally, I think the three-island pass is more cost-effective 3 Three-Island Pass Lido: Once you have the pass, look for boats with the Lido sign. They will take you to the first stop, Madre, then to Pescatori, and finally to Bella Island. (Note: For the return trip, you must also find a boat with the Lido sign) 4 Personal recommendation: Madre and Bella Islands are truly worth visiting. Madre Island has both a botanical garden and animals, great for photography. Pescatori Island is mostly for dining and shopping (recommend trying the grapefruit and lemon candies, 6 euros per pack). No need to say much about Bella Island!! Please see the picture above (Regarding tickets: both Madre and Bella Islands require tickets for visiting, a combined ticket for both islands is 34 euros, which I personally recommend)

If you want to get a good location a few minutes away form the main street of Toarnina without paying 500euro/night ! This is probably the best spot. The staff makes this place a 5 stars review. Big thanks to Mario and Antonella. She gave us great advice and make us save money on beach club . They can help you organize a lot of things on the area and they know all the tricks to save some money. The only little negative of the hotel is the fact that it's between to busy streets. The noise is not a issue but the smells of the gas on the patio... However try to find a view for that price... Lastly the room are a little old and you can hear your neighbors in the hallway. In front of the beach is the lovely little island of Isola Bella. The cable car station is just outside the city gate on Via Pirandello, and it only takes 3 minutes to get to the beach. Those who like hiking can also walk down the slope and stairs from the city center and reach the beach in about half an hour. Next to it is the famous small island Isola bella (Bella Island), which is a very unique view, especially when looking down from a high angle. The sea water is clear and the bottom is visible, the emerald green is dazzling. If you want to walk to Isola Bella, the only way is to take off your shoes and wade through the water. I chose to hike to Isola Bella and then take the cable car back to the city center. Recommended winter travel destination - Taormina! After taking the train to Taormina Railway Station, you need to take a taxi or bus up the mountain. We took a taxi up the mountain because we were carrying luggage and didn't want to wait for the bus. But taking a taxi up the mountain just took us to the other end of the road. However! On the way to the B&B, I saw the most beautiful coastline! Taormina has a strong atmosphere of life. I felt very relaxed during the two days in Taormina. You can take the cable car to the beach. In January in Taormina, there are relatively few tourists and no one on the beach. Since we can cook at the B&B, we went to the supermarket and bought some pasta, hoping to make carbonara. While we were looking for cream, a helpful local resident told us that carbonara uses egg yolks instead of cream! Taormina Cathedral of San Nicolò di Bari is located in Piazza Duomo, just off Corso Umberto, the main street of Taormina. The notches in the roof line (merlate) make it look like a castle or a small fort and give the 13th century church the nickname "Fortezza Cattedrale." Cathedral was built on the ruins of a pre-existing religious building. Dedicated to St. Nicholas of Bari, it represents the austere medieval style with crowning battlements and a bell tower that make it resemble a building built to guard something or someone really precious. A mix of as many as three architectural styles come together in him: the pure Sicilian style, with Gothic and Roman. The building really looks more fortress than religious institution. This impression is accentuated by the construction made entirely with large stone blocks and finished with battlements along the whole perimeter of the building. The facade is adorned with a large rose window made of Siracusa stone of excellent workmanship. Two other rosettes on sides of the east and west of the church. There are several oil paintings with the classic religious scenes of saints from the Byzantine to the Renaissance period. I'm not a real artistic person, but I appreciate religious works that have historical meaning and value. I really like to visit churches, mosques and cathedrals in Europe, and this is definitely worth spending a few minutes inside. It's also free.

Sicily 🇮🇹 There is so much to do and soooo much to eat in this fantastic island that it is impossible to do everything or taste all the yummy local delicacies in just over a week. Anyway, I love #sicily - I love #sicilianfood - I love #siciliansea and I love the #sicilianstyle I really liked #taormina town, a bit touristic, but a wonderful gem 💎. I particularly liked the Greek/Roman theatre that is still very much in use these days. The theatre is jaw dropping and at the back of it you can see the #etna volcano, still active, still kicking. #syracuse and its unesco world heritage island of #ortigia is another really pretty town to visit and try seafood and freshly squeezed pomegranate juice. #modica is little town down south of Sicily famous for its chocolate (that incredibly doesn’t melt at all) that is still worth a visit. In there I tried a typical #sicilianbreakfast with granita, brioche and fresh almond milk (made with local almonds). #agrigento town and its Greek style temples are something out of this world! I was so impressed by the #valleyofthetemples! it’s hard to look at those beautiful temples and believe that you are still in Italy. #marsala and #marsalasaltflats in the west park of Sicily is another incredible part of the island worth a visit, and finally #palermo and its fisherman town neighbour of #cefalù, over there you have beautiful water and wonderful beaches! And the food!!!! OMG 😱 #cannoli #arancini #cassate #granite #gelato and so on. I have probably put on a few kilos just in a week here 😂 But it’s worth it 😃 I could go on forever, and I didn’t even visit all the other beautiful places I during this trip in Sicily. I was a bit disappointed to find out that the beaches was pebbly and and not sandy, however we still enjoyed it.
