Former res
Former residence of Hu Xueyan, located in Hefang Street of Hangzhou City and Yuanbao Street in the east of Dajing Lane Historical and Cultural Protection Area, was built in the 11th year of Qing Tongzhi (1872), at the peak of Hu Xueyan's career.
At that time, the mansion project lasted for 3 years and was completed in 1875. The completed former residence is a beautiful mansion with Chinese traditional architectural features and Western architectural style. The whole building is long and wide in the north and south, covering an area of 10.8 mu and a building area of 5,815 square meters.
Former residences, whether from the building or from the furnishings of the interior furniture, the use of materials, can be called the first luxury home of Chinese giants in the late Qing Dynasty.
This Hu Xueyan private house covers an area of 7,230 square meters. It starts from Niuyangsi Lane in the east, Yuanbao Street in the south, Yuanjing Lane in the west and Wangjiang Road in the north. The surrounding walls are towering into the sky. It is rumored to be made of glutinous rice soup, which is as solid as cement and can be fireproof and waterproof.
The whole house is designed as a typical Jiangnan garden-style mansion in the late Qing Dynasty. It is magnificent and luxurious. The materials used are a lot of precious red sandalwood, rosewood, nanmu, ginkgo, rosewood and Araucaria. And Chinese , fine workmanship, exquisite carving and exquisite, to achieve no product is not refined, tangible and beautiful. I also invited foreign technicians to install telephones that were not available at the Shanghai Shili Ocean. At the same time, I introduced a series of the latest new arrivals, such as large mirrors, water tassel chandeliers, and western colored glass.
The park has a high-rise, cloister, pavilion, pool, and rockery. The exquisite and large-scale artificial caves are the first in the Ming and Qing Dynasties.
