A place with historical significance. You can get a glimpse of bunkers and canons inside this fort. Located very close to the sea. If you are interested in knowing the history, you may then like it. Entrance fee RM20 if you are not patronising the breakfast food truck within the fort. It’s a small fort but you get to climb up the fort for a bird’s eye view of the beach front and take some photos. I would say it’s worth the RM20. Perhaps the Canons are the main attraction here. Part of the Fort site is closed off and undergoing some kind of construction. Possibly should improve more, better visit at around 5pm to 6pm when the temp is not warm enough to make the visit sweaty. Fort Cornwallis is a remnant of the area’s colonial British past - built over 230 years ago by the British East India Company and is the largest remaining fort in Malaysia. We visited after dark when it was quieter and cooler, but there are tours during the day. Fort Cornwallis is a Historical Landmark in George Town, City in Penang Island. It is located few miles from Kota Lama, an attraction for gathering in Penang Island. This fort was built British East India Company lead by Sir Francis Light in late 18th century. It is now recognised as one of the World Heritage Site by UNESCO. This fort site open for public as recreational and historical place. So some of the remains are kept. entrance fee worth of 7RM☺️ indeed the place is very nice🤙🏻 funny trivia: Cornwallis was a general and one of the army in British during the revolutionary war. many says that Cornwallis threw a lot of gold coins in the field so that the people are in hurry cutting tall grass. That's how strategic he is.. in conclusion: The fort itself is a historic site and worth the visit. The problem is that it is currently going under a serious reconstruction so not a lot you can see. where the entrance fee was not ok right now. Breakfast with a great view! They have nice food but the variety is little. The food is quite pricey. After breakfast, you can take a walk around Fort Cornwallis and take pictures. Enjoy the historical site.

This is another exciting experience of my Penang trip, having breakfast under the trees. Breakfast in The Fort is outdoor dining, managed by Kota. The perfect place for outdoor breakfast. The coffee cart, kitchen, and tables are all under the trees, located inside The Fort Cornwallis, a bastion fort in George Town built by the British East India Company in the late 18th century, lacated adjacent to The Esplanade. The menu is a western breakfast set menu and pasta. The price is in mid-range. Since I had my breakfast in the Jetty, I just ordered scrambled eggs and a hot latte. The latte is very good. The atmosphere is very relaxed and the place to chill in the morning. It is a dog-friendly place, the street car park is limited, can park at the opposite street with a fee. #2月好地方2025 Fort Cornwallis, named after Charles Cornwallis, the Governor of Bengal in the late 18th century, is one of the most distinctive historical sites in Georgetown. The walls are about 10 feet high and are laid out in a star-like shape. The walk takes about 10 minutes. Inside the fort you can still see the facilities built a century ago, including a chapel, prison cells, ammunition magazines, a lighthouse that was once used to guide incoming ships, a flagpole that remains to this day and several bronze cannons; one of which is a Dutch cannon called Seri Rambai, which dates back to 1603. There is a glass building in Fort Cornwallis, which is Kota cafe. It has a white brick wall in the middle, wooden tables and chairs, and a statue of Francis Light inside. The overall design is based on the noble French style, with natural light, and the top floor is also an open viewing balcony. The food presented is a mixture of Nyonya cuisine and Western food, which is quite satisfying.

It is also the best time to avoid the sun and sweating and enjoy the night breeze here. Everywhere is lighted up and there are more stalls open selling handicrafts and souvenirs too. The wall murals will also light up and you can take nicer photos with them too. It is still quite busy even at 9pm so it is still quite safe to be here.

First time visit penang and go to Fort cornwallis. Nice beach with the fresh breeze from the ocean. Also, try pasembur at the food court. definetly crowded place but nice to enjoy sea breeze. Also can try delicious hand made ice cream by local seller there.

#penangtrip We had a good time here. The 20RM entrance fee for tourists seemed steep until we realize we got a free beer. Some.other people couldn't use theirs and donated so we got a few more. The beer was tasty and there is a nice sitting area to relax while sipping. The history of this place is also quite interesting. It's definitely worth a visit. Highly recommended.

Fort Cornwallis has never been used for military purposes. The cannons in the fort face the sea. At the back, there is a storage area for gunpowder for use in battle. This is an important historical site in Malaysia. The entrance fee is 20 ringgit and you will get a 10 ringgit food coupon back. Inside, there is a coffee shop that serves simple food. It looks like a food truck. There are seats under a large shady tree. At the entrance, there are souvenirs for sale. #mymymemories If there's a beer event in Penang, you can be sure we'll definitely be there 🤣 This weekend, we were at the Guinness Flavour by Fire Festival at Fort Cornwallis, Penang. The highlight of the event was of course the Guinness draft beers - smooth and creamy, just delicious! The price was a little steep at RM15 (it looked like half a pint, tbh), but purchase two sets and you'll be able to join their long table game for free (and win free drinks / merchandises!). The festival featured plenty of food stalls with Guinness flavour dishes as well! We tried a few dishes, but the highlight of the night for us were the Beef Brisket and Pork Skewers. There were also DJs and live bands at the event, making the whole place a lot livelier!
