Seema Malaka (Sinhala: සීමා මාලකය) is a Buddhist temple in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The temple is mainly used for meditation and rest, rather than for worship. Situated in the Beira Lake, the temple was originally constructed in the late 19th century. Seema Malaka is a part of the Gangaramaya Temple and is situated few hundred meters to its east.

🇱🇰 Originally constructed in the late 19th century on Beira Lake, Seema Malakaya is a part of the historic Gangaramaya Temple which is situated 200 m to its east. In 1976, the temple was redesigned and reconstructed as the original structure started to sink in the lake. Since then, the temple sits on three floating platforms which are connected to each other and to the mainland by floating bridges. There are numerous seated Buddha statues displaying different mudras (hand gestures) on all three platforms. The central platform houses wooden paneled temple for meditation. The view of the surrounding Colombo skyline from the central platform is beautiful. A small entrance fee to the temple applies to foreigners. I visited the Seema Malaka Temple in Colombo, Sri Lanka! You can see the temple floating on Beira Lake, designed by the famous Sri Lankan architect Geoffrey. It's a small temple that you can walk around in about 15 minutes, but it has a unique modern atmosphere for a Buddhist temple, making it a peaceful place to visit. Water temple, Colombo. Sat in the Buddha hall for half an hour, the cool breeze was comfortable and quiet. Two snakes protect the big footprints. The Guanyin statue shows the flexibility of Theravada Buddhism. The offerings even come with a set of Western tableware, which is quite interesting. The water temple is actually part of the Gangaramaya Monastery and Museum, the main temple is located at another nearby location, you can go together, I went a few nights ago. Note: If you join a group, these two places are not on the itinerary, you have to find time to go.
