[Shizuoka] Ganjojuin Temple, a place associated with the 13 Lords of Kamakura and the Hojo Clan
15 minutes walk from the Taiga Drama Museum. Ganjojuin Temple was built by Hojo Tokimasa, the father of Hojo Yoshitoki, one of the protagonists of the 13 Lords of Kamakura, to pray for victory in the conquest of the Oshu Fujiwara clan by Minamoto no Yoritomo.
Rocky, the mascot dog, welcomes you in front of the main hall. 🐶
This is the first time I've seen a real Akita dog! I didn't know it was so big! It's very well behaved and stays quiet even when you stroke its head.
In the precincts, there is the grave of Hojo Tokimasa, as well as the sacred tree where Minamoto no Yoritomo and Hojo Masako are said to have met.
When you come to the Taiga Drama Museum, be sure to stop by here as well.
