Dozens of kilometers north of Baiyu County, there is a Tibetan Buddhist temple "Katuo Monastery" in Kangba District, which was built in 1159. Kathok Monastery is the birthplace of Tibetan Buddhism in the Kham area, and a representative temple of the Nyingma School. The temple is a place of worship for the Red Sect in the Kham area. It is 4800 meters above sea level. In the third-rate of the Nyingmapa lineage, Kathok Monastery is one of the more famous among the six major Vajra dojos. Kathok, also translated as Kathok, (Gadao, Gado), the English translation is called Kathok. Kathok Monastery can be called the mother monastery of Nyingma sect. The temple preserves the remnants of the lotus thorns gifted by the Yuan Dynasty, the seal donated by Phasiba to the temple, the statue of Manjusri in the Ming Dynasty, the scripture "Complete Works of Keben" gifted by the emperor of the Qing Dynasty, porcelain bowls and arrow clusters from the Gesar period, Precious cultural relics such as single-eared bronze jars and animal shapes.
