Western Sichuan is still barren in March and April. Due to the high altitude, the grasslands green up late, so there is no lush greenery. However, you can go to Jinchuan to see pear blossoms, or Yuzixi and Gunong Village to see the sunset over the snowy mountains. 😘Here are some tips for traveling in Western Sichuan. I hope they can help you~ Tip 1: Don't be lazy! Moisturize! It's very dry here! The wind in Western Sichuan can dry you out. It can even temporarily cure the rheumatism of people from Guangdong! Tip 2: Don't exercise for a month before you go. Don't exercise at all⚠. Take Rhodiola a few days in advance, and bring motion sickness medicine and patches. Take them as soon as you get in the car. Tip 3: Some places may not have a signal, so keep some cash on you for using the toilet. Many toilets in Western Sichuan are in poor condition, so be prepared. Tip 4: Bring a bottle of cola to Western Sichuan, and drink it a little at a time. It's very effective in relieving altitude sickness! Tip 5: When you're on the plateau, don't push yourself. Don't exercise vigorously, don't get too excited, and don't move suddenly. Slow down your movements. Not having altitude sickness at first doesn't mean you'll never get it. Tip 6: Don't bring squeezable tube toiletries. The low air pressure at high altitudes will cause them to swell. The moment you open the cap is the moment they'll explode!! If you bring them, turn the tubes upside down, shake them hard, gently squeeze out the air inside, and then tighten the cap. That should do the trick. Tip 7: Liquid eyeliner and eyebrow pens are not recommended. They explode easily. Choose eyeliner pencils, eyebrow pencils, or black eyeshadow palettes. If you must bring them, be sure to open them slowly! Tip 8: Bring your own bottled water to Western Sichuan, and never drink raw water from the wild. As they say, illness enters by the mouth! Tip 9: Be sure to check the air-dried yak jerky sold near the scenic spots in Western Sichuan carefully! Yak meat is dark brown when it's cooked! Tip 10: Conditions in Tibetan areas are limited, so be prepared. Accommodation cannot be compared to that in cities. Gedilamu (4,100m) is a highland located south of Tagong Grassland. To the east, a valley of grassland was seen. To the south and southeast, rolling mountains all the way to the horizon, were observed. Snow mountains could be seen at the horizon. These two are the Yala Snow Mountain (northeast) and Qingrao Holy Mountain (east northeast). At the southeast horizon, were snow-covered mountain peaks of the great Gongga Mountain. Excitedly, Gongga Mountain was not covered up by clouds, the highest peaks were seen slightly poking into the clouds above. Combination of the grassland here, with valley and/or rolling mountains seen from here, and snow mountains of afar, is what made Gedilamu so pretty, and a desirable location for zoom-in portrait photography and landscape photography. Gedilamu is often included as one of the destinations in Daocheng Yading tours. It is also one of the attractions found in the vicinity of Xinduqiao municipal, notably the one which is found south of Tagong Grassland and north northeast of Yuzixi. Yuzixi is only a short distance away, thus both Gedilamu and Yuzixi are often visited one after another. A stretch of road before the attraction was non-paved, very bumpy and windy, so a bit of adventure was needed to reach here.
