[2025 Gifu Attraction] Travel Guide for Gifu Park (Updated Mar)

We have previously introduced Gifu Castle and Mt. Kinka where it is located. At the foot of Mt. Kinka is Gifu Park. "Gifu Park" is one of the 100 selected historical parks in Japan, so it is worth visiting. 📍 1 Omiya-cho, Gifu City, Gifu Prefecture 🚊 Take the Gifu Bus from JR Gifu Station or Meitetsu Shin-Gifu Station, get off at Gifu Park History Museum-mae, and walk for 2 minutes Gifu Castle was once used as a base by Oda Nobunaga for nine years, and the current Gifu Park is said to be Nobunaga's residence, so the park has facilities such as Nobunaga's castle ruins and the Gifu City History Museum. After visiting Gifu Park, you can also visit Gifu Castle via four different trails. The most recommended trail is the Hyakuma Trail, which offers views of Gifu City and Mt. Ibuki. The entrance to the trail is next to Zenrinji Temple. #japantrip Gifu park has a very nice walking path up tor the castle. The park itself is great place to walk with little ponds and pagodas. It's very green and quiet. The path up is a bit of a climb and slightly challenging (there are two paths, one more dangerous but shorter and one longer but safer and easier to climb). The castle is very nice and the view from the top is great too.

It's still very nice to walk around! However with the lift and museums shut down the whole of the park takes less than half an hour to walk through. Gifu Park (岐阜公園) is a public park located at the base of Mount Kinka in the city of Gifu. It is easily accessible from Gify JR Station by Meitetsu Bus.There are many attractions, including the Gifu City Museum of History, the Eizō & Tōichi Katō Memorial Art Museum, the Nawa Insect Museum, Mt. Kinka Ropeway and of course Gifu Castle & Mount Kinka as the highlight. There is also the site of the Residence of Nobunaga as the former warlord made his military campaign with Gifu as his base. Kinka Ropeway, Gifu City Museum of History, Eizo and Toichi Kato Memorial Museum of Art, and the Nawa Insect Museum. In 2006 In the museum, there are Nara insect models in a display case for us to see the ecosystem and growth. Gifu Park is a shady park with good air and a variety of trees. It is also considered a historical park because this area used to be the residence of Oda Nobunaga, an important figure in Japanese history. In addition to the beautiful seasonal trees, the landscape garden is also shady and beautiful. Gifu Park is greeted by a main gate with a Sengoku-era image and a statue of Oda Nobunaga in his youth. It seems that the park is being redeveloped as a historical park where you can hear the heartbeat of Nobunaga. The Gifu Park General Information Center is in the style of a samurai residence. The park also has a rock garden made from stones from the Nagara River basin, so you can enjoy a Japanese garden. There is also a Nobunaga Residence Excavation Information Center, so this is a place I would recommend to fans of Oda Nobunaga and history buffs. An event called the Gifu Castle Sengoku Experience was held in the park, and it was impressive to see everyone shooting bows in earnest! Gifu Park is also the departure and arrival point for the Kinkazan Ropeway, so if you're interested, be sure to check it out! Public transportation is only accessible by bus, but there are many buses heading to Gifu Park from Meitetsu Gifu Station and JR Gifu Station.
