Sweet Treats at Gion Komori🍵
#getgoing2025
I recently visited Gion Komori in Kyoto’s Gion district with a friend on the weekend, and it was a delightful experience!
This traditional sweet shop is famous for its warabi mochi, and after hearing so much about it, we had to try both the kinako (roasted soybean flour) and matcha versions. Both were absolutely amazing—soft, chewy, and coated with just the right amount of powder. The matcha flavor was rich and smooth, while the kinako version had a perfect, earthy sweetness.
The shop itself has a cozy, traditional feel, making it the perfect spot to enjoy these delicious treats in the heart of Gion. If you love Japanese sweets, this place is a must-visit!
Why I recommend Gion Komori:
The warabi mochi is unlike anything else—chewy, flavorful, and a true taste of Kyoto.
The cozy, traditional setting makes it a perfect stop for a relaxing treat in Gion.
