For safety reasons, you need to rent all related equipment such as crampons... etc. If you are overage and are refused glacier hiking (due to risk considerations of insurance company refusal), you can still hike on the plank road next to the glacier. Buy it and follow the commentator to watch the glacier from a distance. I rented a B&B near the pier, and it took about 20 minutes to take a taxi to the trailhead. Although the Martial Glacier is not big, it is very close to the port of Ushuaia. The key point is that it is free; but the fun of walking on the glacier is the same.
