Castle Walls & Chill Walks
#summervacay So I decided to check out Gongsanseong Fortress in Gongju, and honestly? Great life choice. It’s one of those places that feels both historic and super chill at the same time. You show up expecting some old stone walls, and yeah, they’re there, but the views? Next level.
The walking path goes around the fortress walls, and it’s the perfect mix of light hiking and “wow, Korea’s really pretty.” You’ve got river views on one side, mountains peeking in the distance, and breezy spots to just stop and vibe.
The fortress itself has a calm, old-soul energy. Some restored buildings, some cool gates, and random spots to sit and imagine you’re in a sageuk drama. Not a lot of crowds either, which made it even better.
Bring comfy shoes, maybe a coffee, and take your time. It’s not a rush-through kind of place, it’s a slow walk, deep breath, take-it-all-in kind of spot. Gongsanseong totally surprised me, in the best way.
