Beijing Free Day Trip|Grand Canal Museum + City Library
Spent a day in Tonglifonia over the weekend, and I have to say, Tongzhou, as Beijing's sub-center, truly lives up to its name. The area is filled with high-quality modern buildings. Apart from the somewhat inconvenient transportation, it's an absolutely fun place to visit. A full day visiting three major venues was very fulfilling.
City Library + Grand Canal Museum + Beijing Art Center, all three venues are in the same park and were completed at the end of last year, becoming new landmarks in Beijing.
🌸Visiting Route: Library ➡️ Museum ➡️ Art Center
The venues are within 500 meters of each other, and you can adjust the visiting order according to your needs.
✅Venue Introduction
📖Beijing City Library
Upon entering the City Library, the undulating 'Valley Hall' comes into view. On both sides are two 'Book Mountains' standing 3 meters tall. The columns, shaped like ginkgo trees, rise to the roof, which is composed of countless leaves. The space is surrounded by large floor-to-ceiling windows, and the glass curtain walls effectively bring in outdoor light, making it very bright and transparent.

🌸Tongzhou Grand Canal Museum
The design concept of the Tongzhou Grand Canal Museum is inspired by the three elements of boats, sails, and water from the ancient canal scenery. The museum consists of a shared hall, an exhibition building (main building), and a leisure water street. The roof of the shared hall resembles a 'boat', the roof of the exhibition building resembles a 'sail', and the water street runs between the two buildings.
