Gualing Village, Xintang Town, Zengcheng is the only Ming and Qing architectural dwellings built on water in Guangzhou. Gualing Village was built in the early years of Chenghua in the Ming Dynasty, more than 500 years ago. In the past, there were water moors all around, and the villagers rowed boats every day and went out to farm through the criss-crossing water network. Since the construction of the Andong Bridge in Gualing Village in 1985, the era of "crossing the river" for farming has ended. The moat that once surrounded the village is now only a river with a width of about 20 meters in the east of the village. Walking into Gualing Village, passing through the modern small western-style building, there are neat blue bricks and green tiles, and vicissitudes of granite pavement. There are 11 Mashi lanes, and more than 200 ancient dwellings are neatly "cut" into a checkerboard shape. More than 20 meters high "four corners" towers towering high, dotted among them. There are 8 ancestral halls in a small village covering an area of less than 100 mu. Overlooking from a height, the village is surrounded by a large area of fruit forests, fields, and clear streams flowing, creating a peaceful and idyllic scenery. But the roofs of many abandoned houses have collapsed, and most of the rest have been remodeled, with ancient blue tiles and blue bricks mixed with modern red brick and mud walls.
