|Complete Guide to Cycling Around Dianchi Lake⛰[Attraction Guide]
Dianchi Lake, also known as Kunming Lake, Kunming Pool, Dian Nan Ze, and Dian Hai, is located in the southwest of Kunming, Yunnan Province. It is fed by the Panlong River and other rivers. The lake is 1,886 meters above sea level, covers an area of 330 square kilometers, and is the largest freshwater lake in Yunnan Province. It is known as the Pearl of the Plateau. The average depth of the lake is 5 meters, with a maximum depth of 11 meters. The lake water flows out of the southwest estuary, called Tanglangchuan, which is the source of the Pudu River, a tributary of the Jinsha River, the main stream of the upper reaches of the Yangtze River. The total length of the Dianchi Lake Ring Road is about 120 kilometers (including the Caohai section), with varying road conditions. At Haigeng Dam and Haigeng Park, you can feed seagulls, and at Haihong Wetland Park, you can take photos on a glass boat. The recommended route is: Haigeng Dam, Dianchi Tunnel, Xishan, Haihong Wetland Park, Nanqiang Night Market.

Huanhunan Road is the most beautiful section of the entire route and is also the section that runs along the lakeside. There are cycling paths and slow walking paths, and more than 2 kilometers of roads are suspended above the water of Dianchi Lake. There are also many trunk coffee cars and snacks along the road, which are very suitable for stopping to take photos and enjoy the scenery.
📌Tips:
After leaving Haigeng Park, continue cycling along Huanhu East Road. It is all highway, and you cannot see Dianchi Lake. You can ride faster in this section and check in at Huanhunan Road.
