Exploring Guryongpo Japanese House Village was like stepping back in time. The well-preserved Japanese-style houses from the early 20th century were a fascinating look into Korea’s history during the Japanese occupation. The village is charming and quiet, and walking through it felt like a journey into the past. Many of the houses are now museums or cultural centers, offering insights into the lives of the people who once lived there. I enjoyed learning about the historical context while admiring the beautiful architecture. If you’re interested in history, culture, or architecture, this village is a must-visit in Pohang.

I'll introduce you to the Japanese House Street where you can overlook Guryongpo in Pohang at a glance🙂
This place that comes to mind every time I come to Pohang is a place where Japanese people actually lived, and cute shops and cafes are gathered in the houses that were preserved as they were! It's also a place where the drama "When the Camellia Blooms" was filmed, so you can take in the quiet atmosphere and the blue sea of Pohang at a glance, so I recommend you visit🩵💙

Guryongpo | Day Trip Recommendation.
|Day Trip Recommendation. Guryongpo in Pohang is 40 minutes away from downtown Pohang by bus 🚌9000, which is very convenient.

Near Guryongpo Port, there is a traditional market called "Guryongpo Market" where you can find seafood, vegetables, and groceries. It's not very big.
Along the street near the port, there are many seafood restaurants, mainly selling red crabs 🦀 and water bear fish (a kind of blenny fish, I don't know the exact species). Near the "Guryongpo Japanese House Street," there are several popular restaurants with big crab signs. Many people have been there, and there are no queues on weekdays.

The signature crab noodles are good, with generous portions. One bowl is enough for one person.

The "Guryongpo Japanese House Street" was a residential area for Japanese families during the Japanese colonial period. After the war, it was demolished. Now, to commemorate history, this area has been restored, with a small museum and some shops inside.

The stairs here are also a filming location for the Korean drama "When the Camellia Blooms." The view of the sea is beautiful, but the tall buildings opposite were not there during the filming of the drama, and now they seem a bit abrupt.

When camellia flowers bloom, the staircase photo zone is here 🌸

Located near the observation deck of Guryongpo Japanese House Street,
There is the Chunghontap and Yongwangdang, and there is a work of art with nine dragons ascending to the sky. It has been a great place with a nice view since long ago, but now it is still famous and popular as the photo zone stairs during the camellia blooming season💛
I think it is the best spot in Guryongpo where you have to line up to take pictures.
It is even prettier because you can see the Guryongpo sea at a glance💛
