[Busan] Haedong Yonggungsa Temple, a Dragon Palace-like temple famous for granting one wish
This temple is located on the east coast of Busan. In Korea, temples are often found in the mountains, so it's rare to find one on the seaside.
It's also famous for the fact that "if anyone prays sincerely, one wish will be granted," and celebrities and politicians often visit the temple.
I wanted to see this location, so I booked a one-day tour and went there 🐲It happened to be the week of the Buddha's birthday, so the colorful lanterns were beautiful 👍
I had some trouble on the first day and couldn't go anywhere at all (lol), so the tour was a relief 😆 Plus, there was no one else there, so I had the luxury of having the guide all to myself 👍-----------------------------------------------It is said to have been founded in 1376 during the Goryeo Dynasty.
The Dragon King appeared in a dream to the Goryeo king's teacher, Naon, and told him, "If you build a temple on the edge of Mount Horai, the wind and rain will stop, the country will be stable, and the people will be at peace," so he built it.
It was destroyed once during the Bunroku-Keicho War, when Toyotomi Hideyoshi invaded the Korean Peninsula. In the early 1930s, the monk Ungang rebuilt the temple, and in 1974, the monk Cheonan prayed for 100 days, and in a dream saw a white-robed Kannon Bodhisattva ascending to heaven on a dragon, so he renamed it Haedong Yonggungsa Temple. -----------------------------------------------From the entrance to the "approach," they sold oden, and they also had larvae in it... It's a great story to tell! Lol
📷There are statues of the 12 zodiac animals lined up, so it's customary to take a photo in front of your zodiac animal👍📷Go through the gate and go down the 108 steps (the number of earthly desires). If you turn left on the way down, you will see the spot where you can take the TOP photo, so go left first. I want to share a lot of photos, so I'll post them separately. ⚠️【Caution】⚠️If you go by bus, you have to get off and go up the hill for about 10 minutes, which looked pretty tough. People with suitcases looked like they were having a hard time🤣
The guide said,
There's no place to put your luggage,
What will you do?🤣
There are a lot of stairs, so I recommend that you wear light clothing.
Depending on the weather, taxis are quite cheap,
so I think it's best to take a taxi from the nearest station.
🚇Access🚇There are also optimal routes depending on the time, so please check out "NAVER Maps" etc.
1 hour 10 minutes Busan Station (Line 1) → Seomyeon → Donghae Line → Osiriria (taxi) → Donghae Yonggungsa Temple 🚕Taxi "Please go to Haedong Yonggungsa Temple" Yeonggunsa Kaji Ka Juseyo You can also display the text in a large size using the "Korean translation app" and show it to the driver.
If you can use "Kakao Taxi", that's the best way.
