This is a famous shrine in Ueno Park. There are so many red torii gates in this temple, you can see them at the entrance and along the staircase all the way to the main temple hall. I read the travel book and it says the Torii gates are coated with red because Japanese believe that red can drive away evil spirits. The torii gates were gifted by believers. The more torii gates the temple has, the more spiritual the temple is. Worth visiting for its unique architecture, not just religion purpose. There are a lot of Inari Shrine in Japan, and this is one. The best Inari Shrine that I've seen by far was in Kyoto, but Hanazono Inari Shrine also do not disappoint. You nay rent a Kimono here as well. The best part is that, there are not so many people because it is such a small shrine. I am not sure if it's a part of Ueno Park, but it is quite close to the area. #wintergetaway
