Port Macquarie|Australia Coastal Town
Port Macquarie, a small town near Sydney, is a hidden gem for vacationers, mostly frequented by locals. If you can only choose one harbor town, this is the one!
The climate here is pleasant all year round, with summer temperatures averaging around 25°C to 30°C and winter temperatures ranging from 10°C to 20°C, making it comfortable to visit at any time.
Scenic Spots
1. Coastal Walk: The beach here is as beautiful as Bondi Beach. Starting from Town Beach, the walk extends along the coast, passing through Flagstaff, Rocky Beach Lookout, Nobby's Beach, Harry's Lookout, and Sea Acres, offering stunning coastal views. If you're lucky, you might even spot migrating whales. The walk ends at the historic Tacking Point Lighthouse.
2. Ricardoes Tomatoes and Strawberry Farm: At the farm entrance, you'll find beautiful red ripe tomatoes climbing up the vines, reminiscent of the scene from "Jack and the Beanstalk." The strawberry farm here is somewhat similar to those in China, and the small restaurant next door sells a variety of locally made jams and grains, which are popular among locals.
3. Bago Maze: Although it's located in a remote area, it's bustling with activity. The hedge maze may seem simple, but once inside, you'll realize its difficulty. It takes about 2 hours to explore and take photos.
4. Koala Hospital: You can see adorable koalas receiving care. For more details, check out my previous post.
5. Sea Acres Rainforest Centre: You can learn about the local Aboriginal culture and the surrounding rainforest environment. More details in the next post.
Food
The area offers a variety of fresh seafood, such as shrimp, fish, and crabs, which can be enjoyed at seaside restaurants. There are also specialty dishes made with ingredients sourced from private farms, paired with homemade farm jams for a unique taste.
Tips
When exploring the Coastal Walk, remember to protect yourself from the sun and stay hydrated, especially in hot weather.
Bago Maze may require more physical exertion, so it's recommended to wear comfortable shoes.
When visiting the Koala Hospital, please keep quiet and avoid disturbing the koalas during their rest and treatment.
Although not very famous, if you have the time, spending two days exploring this area is definitely worth it!
