During the special opening from Saturday, January 8th to Friday, March 18th, 2022, I climbed up Higashi Honganji Temple's "Mieidomon Gate" ~ It is said to be the tallest wooden tower gate in Japan, standing at about 27m high. Three statues of Shaka Nyorai, Maitreya Bodhisattva, and Ananda are enshrined on the upper floor. From the top of the tower, you can see the Higashiyama mountain range, and the view over Kyoto's main street, Karasuma-dori, and the city was amazing!
