Mount High West in Hong Kong Island is one of the most rewarding hikes I've ever been on. The hiking trail to the peak of Mount High West is situated along the Harlech Road and Lugard Road Circular Walk, The Peak. I started the circular trail from Harlech Road which was nearer to the entrance of High West. From there it was a quick 30-minute ascent to the summit of Mount High West which is approximately 494 meters above sea level. The 650-m ascent involves steep steps but offers rewarding views along the way. The weather was gloomy on the day of my visit but I was blessed as the sun made a brief appearance when I was at the viewing point on the summit. High West is near the Peak and it takes about 30 minutes to reach the summit. You can enjoy a 360-degree view of the beautiful Victoria Harbour, with a distant view of Pok Fu Lam to Lamma Island. It is recommended to visit during dusk or early evening, but it is not advisable to go at night as there are no street lights along the way, making it quite dangerous. Transportation: It is recommended to take a bus to the Peak, walk along Harlech Road to the small garden, and then climb the long stairs to reach the top.

It is the fourth highest mountain in Hong Kong and the only one in the Hong Kong Island District. It offers the most relaxing yet most beautiful scenery, and it's free, which makes it 'extremely cost-effective'. 🚶🏻‍♂️We took a taxi directly to the top of Victoria Peak, replenished supplies at the mall on the top of the mountain, and then continued to climb up along the small road next to it. There are more stairs and the road is narrower. It took us about an hour to reach the top. We enjoyed the breeze on the mountain, took a rest and took pictures, and then walked down the mountain for another hour. The road was easy to walk. 💙There is an observation deck on the top of the mountain, and there is a sign commemorating the date of the climb. The mountain is really refreshing, with all kinds of beautiful scenery in sight, including Victoria Harbour, Tung Po Chau Strait, panoramic view of Hong Kong Island and Kowloon, ICC, Pok Fu Lam Reservoir, and a distant view of the luxury houses in Mid-Levels. 🍹Back to the mall on the top of Victoria Peak, we had a cup of Nayuki's tea to relax, and then returned to Central, where there are various food gathering places, which is extremely convenient.
