| A pleasant stay with little surprises. Hey everyone! I recently stayed at the Shangri-La Hotel in Lanzhou, and the experience was amazing. I have to tell you all about it. As soon as I entered the hotel lobby, I was immediately impressed by the high ceiling and crystal chandeliers. However, the front desk is on the 51st floor, which means you have to change elevators every time you go up and down. This is really inconvenient! The all-day dining restaurant is located on the 52nd floor, but unfortunately, I didn't have time to experience it because I had to catch a flight. It seems that there is no plan to let people stay here for too long, so there is no dedicated parking lot. Vehicles visiting the scenic area are parked on the roadside. Lazikou is a stone gate cut out by a tributary of the Bailong River in the mountains. It is very dangerous, and it is truly a place where one man can hold off ten thousand. In the autumn of 1935, the Red Army, exhausted after marching 20,000 miles on the Long March, had to pass through this pass, which was heavily guarded by the Kuomintang army. The sacrifice they had to make was enormous, and the exact number is still unknown. Not far from Lazikou, the road spirals up the Minshan Mountains to a high point called Tiechiliang. From Lazikou at an altitude of 1,600 meters, the 30-kilometer mountain road rises to an altitude of 3,500 meters at Tiechiliang, which made our just-recovered altitude sickness worse, probably more of a psychological effect.
