Located next to the Nara National Museum, Himuro Shrine is a dreamlike spot, especially during cherry blossom season! The giant weeping cherry trees, over 130 years old, cascade in a pink waterfall of petals. The sight and the gentle fall of the blossoms fill the air with the sweet scent of sakura, almost as if the atmosphere itself is blooming. 🌸

Location:
Walking from JR/Kintetsu Nara Station: About 15 minutes.
Alternatively, you can take a bus to the "Todai-ji Front Gate" or Nara National Museum; from Nara Station, it’s around 30 minutes walking, but the walk is pleasant.
The shrine’s torii gate will guide you to the cherry blossom paradise!
Photography Spots at Himuro Shrine:
Sumiyoshi Shrine (left side of the torii gate)
Just as you walk through the torii gate, you’ll notice a small torii on the left side, leading to Sumiyoshi Shrine, which has a cherry blossom tree in full bloom. It’s a popular spot for photos, so you might have to wait in line! 📸
Weeping Cherry Trees in the Main Courtyard
The weeping cherry trees near the main hall are the most photographed! With their large, sprawling branches, they create a dreamlike atmosphere. The entire courtyard is dotted with these magnificent weeping cherry trees and Yoshino cherry trees. 🌸
Sakura by the Wooden Bridge
After touring the shrine, head over to the wooden bridge area for a perfect photo with a large Yoshino cherry tree in full bloom. The spot offers a peaceful setting with beautiful sakura as a backdrop. 🌿
