Global off-the-beaten-path destination: Japan's cherry blossom viewing.
The open period is called "Sakura season", and the clothing worn when viewing cherry blossoms is called "Hanayi". The process of going to see cherry blossoms is called "Sakura hunting".
To the Japanese, the short-lived cherry blossoms seem like a fairy-like prey that requires dedicated hunting.
After the Chinese New Year, spring begins and people start looking forward to the annual "Hanami" in Japan, which is the best time to appreciate cherry blossoms between March 15th and April 15th every year. This is also the time when cherry blossoms in Japan are in full bloom. If you go later, you can still enjoy cherry blossoms in Northeast and Hokkaido, where cherry blossoms bloom in early May.
//Recommended off-the-beaten-path cherry blossom viewing spots in Japan//
1 Miyagi Prefecture, Baishikawa Embankment
The Baishichuan embankment is located in Ohara-machi, Miyagi Prefecture, northeast Japan. Along the riverbank, there are planted pink and white Somei Yoshino cherry blossoms, the "phantom variety" Sendai Yoshino cherry blossoms, and cherry blossom trees that are over 80 years old, with a total of 1200 trees.
2 Shiga Prefecture, Meishu Museum.
Enter from the ticket office of the art museum, and you will first pass by the pink weeping cherry tree.
"The road...forgetting the distance, suddenly came across a peach blossom forest. On both sides, hundreds of steps, with no miscellaneous trees, fragrant grass and beautiful scenery, with falling petals fluttering..." It was probably something like this.
3 Kagawa Prefecture, Ziyun comes out of the mountain.
In Chajian-cho, Sanfeng City, Kagawa Prefecture, the Ziyun Mountain offers a great view of both the Seto Inland Sea and cherry blossoms, and it's also a good place to get away from tourists.
4 Tokyo suburbs, Fuji Shibazakura Festival
Zhizakura is a stem and leaf that grows on the ground, named for its similar flower shape to cherry blossoms. April to May is the best time to appreciate Zhizakura, and the mountains are covered with spectacular small pink flowers.
5 Kyoto, Hirano Shrine.
Hirano Shrine is located in the northern district of Kyoto city and is a famous cherry blossom viewing spot. In this small shrine, there are over 400 cherry blossom trees of 60 different varieties. Walking here, when you look up, the cherry blossoms cover the sky, truly making it a scene of "seeing only the trees and not the sky". 6 Tokyo, Chidori-ga-fuchi.
At the Qian Niao Zhi Yuan, you can witness the magnificent scene of the "Cherry Blossom Carpet". The cherry blossoms on both sides of the river gently fall onto the water's surface, forming "flower rafts" that float with the current. Only at Qian Niao Zhi Yuan can you fulfill your desire to drift on the "Cherry Blossom Carpet" and feel the gentle breeze blowing the cherry blossoms onto the water.
During the brief "cherry blossom season", dressed in beautiful "flower clothes", whether you go north to Miyagi, west to Kyoto, or south to Kagawa, are you ready for this year's "cherry blossom hunting" away from the crowds?
