I got up at 5:30 in the morning and set off. Unexpectedly, there were many European and American people on the road! ! ! Starting from Hokanji Temple (Yasaka Pagoda), walking all the way through Nianninzaka, Sannzaka, and then to Kiyomizudera Temple, every uninhabited street scene is a perfect photo background. 🚶‍♀️ Route 1️⃣Hokanji Temple/Yasaka Pagoda Best time: 5:30 AM-6:00 AM This five-story pagoda is a landmark building in Kyoto. There are almost no people around the pagoda in the early morning, which is especially suitable for taking pictures of loneliness and solemnity. You can stand in front of the tower, capture the panoramic view of the tower, and take photos full of ancient charm using the soft light of the morning. 📷 Tip: When shooting, place the five-story pagoda in the center of the picture. The symmetrical streets and traditional buildings on both sides can increase the sense of depth. 2️⃣Ninenzaka Best time: 6:00 AM-6:30 AM There are no tourists in the early morning of Ernian Ban, so it is suitable to take wide-angle shots of the panoramic view of the stone roads and wooden buildings. It is recommended to stand in the middle of the road to capture the sense of depth and the quaint atmosphere of the street. Tip: When shooting with backlight, the sun will rise from behind the building, adding a warm and soft light to the photo. 3️⃣ Sannenzaka Best time: 6:30 AM-7:00 AM The stone steps of Sannenzaka are the focus of the shooting. There is no one on the stone steps in the early morning. You can take pictures from a low angle to fully demonstrate the layering of the stone steps and the symmetrical beauty of the ancient buildings on both sides. Dynamic capture: You can take pictures while walking, capturing random walking moments and adding a sense of life to the photos. 4️⃣Kiyomizu-dera Best time: 6:30 AM-7:00 AM When we arrived at Kiyomizudera Temple, the temple was empty and quiet in the morning. Standing on the Kiyomizu Stage and overlooking the panoramic view of Kyoto, the morning light shines on the hills and buildings in the distance, which is very shocking. Photography skills: Take long shots from the Kiyomizu Temple stage. You can also use wooden railings as the foreground to capture details and the distant cityscape to create a sense of hierarchy. Tips: Start early to avoid the crowds, especially for those who like to take photos. After finishing, you can go to a nearby cafe to enjoy a cup of Japanese coffee and experience the perfect Kyoto morning.

Because the surrounding buildings are very low, the temple looks very prominent. You can enter the temple with an entrance ticket of 400¥. Although I've been there many times, I've never seen inside of the temple 😅 Because it is a very favorite place, it is always crowded with tourists. If you want to enjoy Yasaka Street quietly, come early in the morning or late at night. Besides, wearing a kimono walking on Yasaka street is also an interesting experience. However, on some roads, it is prohibited to take a photo. And Geishas should not been bothered. Yasaka Pagoda (aka Hokan-ji Temple) is one of the iconic structures in Kyoto. It is a five-story buddhist temple dating back to the 6th or 7th century. We visited in the evening when there are fewer tourists around, but still found lots of people at the best photo spots taking pictures with the pagoda. It is still worth wandering around the alleys nearby - there are small izakayas, sake bars, and coffee shops around to explore while getting different perspectives of this beautiful historical landmark. #timetotravel #japan #kyoto

Hokanji Temple (Yasaka Pagoda), along with Ninenzaka and Sannenzaka, is one of the iconic landmarks located within Higashiyama district that is renowned for its well-preserved historical charming streetscape. It’s a very scenic pedestrian-only street where lots of tourists flock to for a photo opportunity. Tourists aside, it’s a very atmospheric street where you would enjoy strolling along the olden streets and enjoying its old world charm. The streets are lined with tonnes of interesting eateries, souvenir and gift shops that would keep you occupied for hours. We enjoyed it so much that we visited the destination a few times during our trip. Very visible from Sannenzaka shopping district, this is Houkanji Temple, or sometimes known as Tower of Yasaka (Yasaka no Tou.) This is my favorite Pagoda in Japan, towering over the ancient neighborhood of old Kyoto. This is also a great location because after visiting the Buddhist Temple, you may go directly to Sannenzaka to go shopping or food hunting, because the shopping district is located right outside of the temple. This temple is open daily from 10am to 4pm. #wintergetaway
