[Hokanji Temple (Yasaka Pagoda)]⭐
Access: 388 Shimizu Yasakakamicho, Higashiyama-ku, Kyoto, Kyoto Prefecture 605-0862
Tourist Spot: Kyoto's Representative Five-story Pagoda ☀️
Hotel: This pagoda, popularly known as Yasaka Tower, is about 46m tall. It is the oldest of the four pagodas, and is said to have been built by Prince Shotoku in the second year of Emperor Sushun's reign (589). However, it has been burned down many times and rebuilt each time, and the current tower is said to have been built in 1440. The sight of the pagoda as you walk up Yumemizaka (Yasaka Street) from Higashiyama-dori gives it a Kyoto feel. When the sun sets and you look at it from around Kodaiji Temple, you can see the tower floating in the cityscape of Kyoto, and you can also see Kyoto Tower. About 15 minutes from Keihan Gion-Shijo Station, about 25 minutes from Higashiyama Station on the subway☀️
Food & Restaurants: Nearby, we recommend [Gion Tokuya], famous for warabimochi (about an hour wait), [Gion Shimokawara Hisago], famous for oyakodon (chicken and egg rice bowl), and [Umezono Kiyomizu Branch], famous for dango☀️
Shopping: Near Kiyomizu-dera Temple, there is a famous souvenir called [Oil Blotting Paper Yojiya]☀️
