The Hohenzollern Bridge is a bridge crossing the river Rhine in the German city of Cologne (German: Köln). It crosses the Rhine at kilometre 688.5. Originally, the bridge was both a railway and road bridge. However, after its destruction in 1945 and its subsequent reconstruction, it was only accessible to rail and pedestrian traffic. Since 2008 padlocks have adorned a fence on the bridge, see all the locks symbolising undying love chained to the bridge. A must on your trip here. The city's Old Town welcomed me with its charming cobblestone streets and the enticing aroma of pretzels. Lost in the alleys of the Old Cologne, history whispered through ancient walls. Crossing the Hohenzollern Bridge, I marveled at the colorful tapestry of love locks, each a story of affection and promises. Nearby, the majestic Cologne Cathedral soared into the sky, a beacon of architectural wonder. The vibrant shopping streets were alive with fashion and friendly faces, making every moment delightful. As evening painted the sky in warm hues, I realized Cologne was a treasure trove for solo explorers. The city was a perfect blend of history, culture, and warmth, leaving me with beautiful memories and a story to tell.

#2024mapped Travelling from UK to Germany is a long journey, so it only made sense to make a stop somewhere in between. And my choice happened to be Cologne for the following attractions: 1) Cologne Cathedral - typical gothic style, but just as many know, this one is a MEGA size. And the spiral staircase up to the top (additional charge at the different entry outside the church main entrance) is quite an experience, but honestly speaking the view up there was just average (because it’s very much obstructed by protective wiring) 2) Hohenzollern Bridge - a unique bridge architecture next to the sacred church 3) Rheinauhafen - another unique building that seems to defy gravity P/S: Train station here is ungated, which means if you’re on your phone when commuting you might forget to buy/validate your tix, but if you happen to run into a spot check then you’d very likely receive a fine

It is a certain distance from the core tourist area in the city, so there is no need to go there. Triangle Building Observation Deck (summer): Tickets are 5 euros.
