You can also book a relaxing massage or beauty treatment of your choice at Mangwanani Spa also at the facility. There's a shuttle that you can take to Gateway mall and back. Advice: Don't stay in apartment close to the elevators it's to noisy and the kids keep knocking on the doors. Highlights - Beautiful view of the sea. Walking distance from the beach. My trip to South Africa took me to Durban, the second largest city in South Africa, partly for the Oyster Box Hotel. The hotel was built in 1928 and has stood in Umhlanga, Durban, South Africa for nearly a century. It has become one of the iconic hotels in South Africa and has hosted many politicians, business tycoons, and celebrities, such as Prince Harry of the United Kingdom and former world richest man Bill Gates. The hotel ranks 21st among the top 100 luxury hotels in the world and second in South Africa, second only to Singita Lebombo, a world-renowned luxury brand in Kruger National Park! The moment you walk into the hotel, you really travel through history, as if you were back in 1928. This hotel offers champagne and desserts for turndown service, and all the staff are very friendly. The highlight of this hotel is its breakfast. Because the Oyster Box was originally an expanded restaurant, the hotel is also named after the restaurant's oysters. The hotel's breakfast features unlimited buffet oysters and champagne, as well as a rich à la carte menu. The snow top coffee is really delicious!

I stayed at the Oyster box for 2 nights and wish it was longer. This is an amazing and fabulous hotel. The staff really are what make the experience. From first greeting at arrival to waving goodbye upon check out. They have customer service down to a T. I was in room 321 on top floor I had a side sea view. The room had everything I needed for a good stay. On arrival I was greeted with a bottle of wine and some chocolates which was a nice touch. The queen size bed was extremely comfortable and I slept soundly both nights. I dined in the hotel formal a la carte restaurant one night. It was very good and again service exemplary. Breakfast was an experience. Not just because of the stunning views over Uhmslanga lighthouse and beach. A great selection of dishes hot and cold, sweet and savoury, plus made to order were available. Waffles were especially good. Oysters and champagne were also included. Monkeys live around the hotel and often joined guests for breakfast. They are quick and cheeky. Stealing unguarded food, sugar pouches and jams from the tables I enjoyed a couple of hours by the garden pool during my stay. It was quiet and very restful. Drinks and light menu available from the pool attendant/waiter. Other features I liked were the amazing smell in the hotel throughout the public rooms. Lemongrass intoxicating perfumes were lovely The hotel cat wandered in the reception at night. For a cat lover like me he was a delight and welcome reminder of home. This is a truly stunning hotel. I ordered a wrap and it tasted so good. It was really affordable so I assumed that it might be small but it was quite big. The wrap was also loaded with flavour. I had a Chai to go with the wrap. Masala Chai to be specific. I'm a Chai lover so I usually order Chai whenever I see it on the menu and I'm glad I did because Roti and Chai makes the best Chai ever. it was truly incredible.
