Hoshinoya KAI-Akiu New Opening Experience
This time I came to Akiu Onsen in Sendai and stayed at the newly opened Kai-Akiu which was opened in April this year. After staying at Kai-Borodo last time, I was still a little disappointed with the dinner at Hoshino. This time I decided to give Kai another chance, but was disappointed again. The food for dinner on the first day was very bad, and my family almost didn't finish it. The presentation was beautiful, but the taste was salty, and the rice in the earthen pot was hard. I reported it to their service staff, and the dinner on the second day was an improvement, which saved a little face. The breakfast was standard traditional Japanese, which was considered to be in the middle level. This time I booked two rooms and stayed for two nights each. In addition to experiencing the hotel, I was mainly looking forward to its meals, but in the end I gave it 72 points. If it weren't for the improvement of dinner on the second day, the score might have been failing.
As for the room, it is spacious and has a beautiful view from the window. There are two indoor hot springs and one outdoor hot spring, with two types of spring quality.
The experience activity in Akiu is to experience their wine culture. Even if you don’t drink, you will be provided with rice bran drinks for tasting. It is actually quite interesting, but it may be a bit boring for children.
It just so happened that the second night was my daughter’s birthday, so I booked a birthday cake from her. They also took a group photo and printed it out immediately for us, which was a great way to commemorate her birthday during the trip.
Overall I give it 76 points, except for the room and hot spring. The other facilities are not very attractive and lack some characteristics.
The above personal feelings are provided for reference by friends who are interested!
